In early June, the league transitioned to the Commissioner's Cup, with Minnesota Lynx and New York Liberty women unbeaten in ESPN's WNBA power rankings. They love to compete in the finals for the second consecutive year on July 1.
Meanwhile, Atlanta’s dream is four consecutive winners, second only to Minnesota and New York.
Until June 17 and 27, Dreams can't face freedom and Links, but perform well. Guards Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray once again led Atlanta, scoring 61 points together in a comeback defeat to the Seattle Storm on Friday. Free agent additions Brionna Jones and Brittney Griner also averaged even numbers in terms of scoring.
Grina (knee) has been restricted recently, playing in Seattle for only 15 minutes after missing the first two games. But forwards Nia Coffey and Naz Hillmon (both known for maximizing any time they get) helped fill the gap in Griner instead of 100%.
New Dream Coach Karl Smesko orchestrated the turnaround of the offense: Atlanta scored second (85.9 points per game) after its last place in 2024 (77.0). Defender Jordin Canada (knee) hasn't performed yet, and it should be a strong addition when she returns after averaging 10.6 points and 5.8 assists last season.
"The system is running well. You get a lot of open shots," Gray told ESPN. "I feel like now we have a key part of the need to take us to the next level."

Minnesota beat Seattle, Phoenix and Golden State last week. Still, Lynx's way of playing was not impressed. Napheesa Collier missed Friday's victory over Mercury in a mercury game due to a knee injury, telling ESPN's Kendra Andrews that he beat the Storm 82-77 on May 27, Links' only "good game" of the season - the attention to the details they demanded themselves reflects their attention.

New York beat Golden State in a back-to-back meeting to handle Washington, then finished the week with its first 100-point game of the season, scoring the second-largest win gap in WNBA history, closing Connecticut’s second-largest Connecticut state by 48. The victory created league history in two other ways: Freedom’s 53-game shooting attempts were the least of the 100-point game, and their 19 3-pointers would have scored their own record earlier this season.
Jonquel Jones scored doubles in all four wins, including a season-high 18 rebounds against the Mystics.

Atlanta, which won last week in Seattle and Los Angeles, benefited from the offensive ability of its leading scorers – Howard (20.5 points), Gray (19.1) and Greener (16.7) won an unparalleled 3-on-3 league in an unparalleled 3-on-3 league earlier this year.
Gray has the best stats season of his WNBA career, with an average of 21.4 points, 4.6 assists and 5.1 rebounds. Howard's score (17.6 points) is almost the same as her past two seasons, assists (5.0 APG) and UP's rebounds (5.6 rpg).

Forward Alyssa Thomas (Mavericks) local situation, defender Kahleah Copper (Knee) and forward Natasha Mack (Back) have not made their debut yet, and we haven't been all out yet. But like Atlanta, Phoenix has a strong start. Last week, it won with Chicago and Los Angeles and lost to Minnesota's unbeaten Minnesota on Natisha Hiedeman's buzzer. Mercury's leading scorer Satou Sabally combined 70 points and 28 rebounds in between the three games.
They have also taken some action over the past seven days, abandoning defender Sevgi Uzun (playing for Turkey in European Shoes later this month) and signing 2023 first-round draft pick Haley Jones on a tough contract after spending the first two seasons with Atlanta.

Wilson scored 35 points and 6 assists in ACES's 96-81 victory, two season highs, plus 13 rebounds. Las Vegas then avenged Seattle, trailing 19 points at Wilson on Sunday.

Last week, the Mystics beat the fever in a neutral field match in Baltimore and then landed in a free home. With all the factors in mind, it's a solid start for a team that is expected to struggle this season.
Senior guard Brittney Sykes leads Washington’s scoring, assists, steals and blocks, while rookie forward Kiki Iriafen leads with rebounds.

Seattle has won three straight consecutively in the past week after three straight wins last week: in Minnesota, Atlanta and Las Vegas. The loss of homes to dreams was particularly frustrating, with the storm leading 17 points early in the third quarter before narrowing the distance to three points to fourth, ending up losing 94-87. Although they countered ACE's ace from their 17-point holes, the Storm could not close the gap in a 75-70 defeat.

The first two wins of the season: the win of the Wings. Center Kamilla Cardoso scored a career-high 23 points in the opening game, while defender Arial Atkins led the Dallas with 26 points.
These wins are after five points in Phoenix, so things may be looking for Chicago.

It's a tough week for Indiana: Caitlyn Clark (Quad) missed at least two weeks of news before losing to Washington and Connecticut, the only win this season. Clark's Guards Sydney Colson (Leg) and Sophie Cunningham (ankle) were injured in Connecticut. Neither of these two is expected to be long, but the fever is still in a difficult exception to sign guard Aari McDonald.

Last week, the expansion weapon had to face the WNBA's best team, losing twice in New York and once at home at Minnesota. But there was a positive achievement: the second matchup against freedom was closer - the five-pointer was 28 points in the first session - and, in the third game outside the third quarter, Valkyrie kept close to Lynx in the third quarter, 17-8 each quarter.

The Sparks lost three straight games - against Atlanta, against Phoenix in Las Vegas and Phoenix - fell 85-80 on Sunday with an 18-point lead. The bigger problem, though, is the status of forward Rickea Jackson, who has been out of the team for his past two games for personal reasons. Jackson was the 2024 WNBA All-Rookie choice, missing three games in the concussion protocol earlier this season before returning for 12 minutes against the dream on May 27. She played in just three of the eight games of Sparks.
