Willem Dafoe debuts in "cuddle" as Barbara Paz's novel feature

Four-time Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe will once again collaborate with Brazil's Bárbara Paz to feature the novel feature of Paz, a nearly unthinkable drama "Cuddle", Paz.

Dafoe is the associate producer of the documentary Babco: Tell Me When Death (2019), and Paz directs her late husband Argentina-Brazil-Brazil filmmaker Hector Babenco ("Spider-Man's Kiss", "Carándiru"), and represents the 93-year-old in Brazil at 93.road Academy Awards.

Dafoe’s relationship with Paz and Babenco began with Babenco’s semi-autobiographical song My Hindu Friend, 2015 Swan song, in which Dafoe portrays a dying filmmaker who closely modeled his small but critical roles played by Paz and Paz.

In "The Embrace", Dafoe plays Dante, a professional embrace who provides platonic comfort to strangers who long for connection. His clients range from overwhelming to emotional vulnerability, people seeking human touch in a rare and transactional world. Dante is behind his calm appearance, struggling habits and loneliness, and only the quiet company of his dog makes people soft. But when a surprising encounter ruins his daily activities, it opens up a fragile and unexpected intimacy.

"In addition to exploring loneliness, the need for human touch and conquer challenges, it also captures the epoch-dramaticians of the times," Dafoe said.

To add to the project’s Oscar genealogy, Brazil’s Conspiração, behind the recent international best featured Oscar winner “I Still Here”, joined the producer of the Oscar nominated “Argentina, 1985” as co-producer BP of PAZ’s company.

"Hu" marks the first collaboration between Infinity Hill and Conspiração, but this is their second co-production with Brazil, second only to "Puan".

Inspired by the growing reality of embrace therapy, and the enhanced global dialogue about loneliness, its producers describe it as a “hug” In an era of emotional disconnection, poignant exploration of touch, vulnerability, and connection. ”

The drama was produced by a conspiracy between Renata Brandão and Juliana Capelini, Axel Kuschevatzky, Phin Glynn and Cindy Teperman for Infinity Hill and BP Peace.

Dafoe will be next in Kent Jones' "Late Fame; Phoenician Project", his sixth collaboration with Wes Anderson. Nadia Latif's "My Basement Man"; Miguel Angel Jimenéz's "Birthday Party"; Patricia Arquette's "Glamorous Girl"; Saverio Costanzo's "Finally Dawn".

He is currently filming Jennifer Peedom's "Tenzing" and recently signed the star of The Souffleur, a dark English comedy hosted by Rising Argentine director Gastón Solnicki. He is currently the Director of Drama Art for the Venice Biennale.

Dafoe's artist partnership in the UK, as well as WME in the US and Circle Management + Production were rejected.
