Berea, Ohio - The Cleveland Browns' offense has been ranked last in scoring after the 2024 season and has taken offenses in four different starting quarterbacks, the unit has been greatly reshaped over the past few months.

During this time, Cleveland fired offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey and replaced him with Tommy Rees, hiring a new offensive line coach at Mike Bloomgren and using five of seven draft picks off the offensive end. Most notably, Cleveland added four new quarterbacks in the offseason - Kenny Pickett, Joe Flaco, Dillon Gabriel and Sheddle Sanders - in the position room.

The Browns’ new appearance offense is starting to produce results, with Cleveland’s four-way quarterback game hovering across the unit as the team begins organized team activity this week, with the NFL season starting less than 100 days.

“It’s day 2 for us, so I think everyone knows where they should be and when they should be there,” Kevin Stefanski said after practice Wednesday. "When you do two drills at once, there's some coaching traffic, but they do a great job. The players and coaches () are making sure we practice in a safe way. We learn for both sides of the player, not asking more people on the player."

This is where each position group is in the Browns' offense.

Quarterback

Wednesday’s practice provides a look at the possible pecking orders in the Browns quarterback game. At about 80 minutes of meeting, it was the representatives of veterans Flacco and Pickett who assigned the first team during the team drill. Gabriel and Sanders often follow both, working with spare and third string instruments. To maximize the practice representation of each player, the rookie performed 7-on-7 training in separate fields with veterans.

Flacco entered his 18th NFL season and was the most experienced person in the group. He also became familiar with Stefanski's offense and helped them lead them into the playoffs later in the 2023 season. But Browns’ decision makers say the person who adds every quarterback will be expected to compete, and they have a high opinion of every passer. General Manager Andrew Berry said the team is looking for 2020 first-round pick Pickett as a business goal for the first wave of free agents. During the draft cycle, Gabriel impressed the team, who led the Browns to pick him in the third round. Although Gabriel was already on board, Cleveland picked Sanders in the fifth round on Day 3 as his talent could steal.

After Wednesday’s practice, Stefanski once again downplayed the importance of practice representatives and said changes will continue to be made during the offseason workout schedule.

"We mix it together every day," Stefanski said. "That's why I tell you not to read a lot, even if you don't listen to me. But we just want to expose men to different concepts, these types of things. So it's different from drilling. It can be different from drilling. It's not really our thing - we don't tend to or worry about the order of the moment."

Run back

With the unlikely return to Cleveland for the franchise Nick Chubb (6,843 yards and 51 TDs in seven seasons) the Browns’ backcourt will be very different in 2025. Cleveland won a pair of runs in Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson, which formed a distinctive styling that could get 1-2 results in January. Judkins is a physical downhill runner who has accumulated 3,785 yards and 44 TDs during Ole Miss and Ohio State, while Sampson (1,491 rushing and 22 TDs in 2024) is more like a big threat in Tennessee.

The two rookies joined Jerome Ford (565 yards and three TDs in 2024), who has taken the lead over the past two seasons, while Chubb was hit and injured. Last season, the Browns ranked 29th in rushing yards, with Cleveland having many grabs in the backcourt.

"I think it's the blueprint for the league, it's the best way to run the linebacker," Sampson said during rookie mini camp. "It's been a long season, so you want as many people as you can go there to break up the rep and prepare for the team. It makes everyone fresh. You see that throughout the league and I think we have a chance to do it here."

Wide receiver

The Browns entered Otas with an inexperienced leash receiving room, besides Jerry Jeudy, who burst out with a career-high 1,229 catch yards in the 2024 Pro Bowl, while scoring four touchdowns. Elijah Moore, who ranked second in the catch last season (61), signed with Buffalo Bills in April. Cleveland had signed receiver Diontae Johnson two days ago, but the veteran Pass Catcher has not released a 1,000-yard season since 2021 when he was with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also participated in a year, where he spent some time with three different teams and was released twice.

Johnson is best one of the best route runners in the NFL. Since joining the league in 2019, Johnson has ranked first in ESPN's open score, which assesses the chances of a receiver being attacked, and can complete the catch. The Browns coveted strong route runner who can fill much-needed gaps across from Jerusalem. Young pass catchers such as third-year player Cedric Tillman and second-year Jamari Thrash will get the chance to play a bigger role, but the two have a total of 53 careers. Johnson and Jeudy are the only receivers on the roster, earning at least 50 passes in a season.

"His ability to run the route, the ability to separate, the ability to separate, the ability to make his weight in and out of the route, which is special," Pickett said of Johnson. "So, I'm so happy to be back there with him."

Tight

David Njoku enters his ninth season in Cleveland, limiting him to 11 games a year after an injury after he suffers a rebound in 11 games a year after his lonely Pro Bowl in 2023. The Browns may want to hold more two-game winning streak in 2025 and have everyone in all approved Harold Fannin Jr., after all seasons, in 2025. (1,555) 2024.

Berry called Fanning the intermediate offensive player of the year, "Queen on the board" because he had the ability to line up in multiple positions on the court.

"He's a really good player and although a little bit short, he can still be separated as a pass catcher," Berry said. "He's really a good action style blocker and he's perfect for what Kevin and Tommy do philosophically offense."

Offensive line

Despite the on-site struggle and injuries derailed on the offensive line in 2024, the Browns chose to make a major change to the position group. Leftback Joel Bitonio announced his return for his 12th NFL season, with the team agreeing to right tackle Jack Conklin to sign a redesigned contract that will keep him consistent in Cleveland in 2025. Center Ethan Pocic and right-back Wyatt Teller also returned with the team for a year, with 2023 fourth-round draft pick Dawand Jones practicing Wednesday.

The Browns also added depth to Cornelius Lucas and Teven Jenkins, who started seven and 14 games last season respectively.

After the 2024 season, multiple Brown's offensive wingers advocated a return to Stefansky's running program, the team moved from quarterback Deshaun Watson around the offensive system. Brown's hope is that they will get a more stable game thanks to plans for Stefanski and better health, and the department has been hosting the crimes for years.
