Of all the new products and innovations launching at CES 2025, one of the hottest is—in fact, loudest — announced by will.i.am, the company has teamed up with electronics giant LG to launch a new range of speakers and headphones.
Dubbed the “xboom by will.i.am” series, the new product was launched at LG’s official press conference at CES, followed by a party at LIV nightclub in Fontainebleau, Las Vegas, Jason Derulo Celebrities such as and Hit attended the party. Boys celebrate musical collaboration.
The ‘xboom by will.i.am’ collection features three speakers and a pair of wireless headphones, each expertly tuned by the Grammy-winning producer himself. Will also collaborates with LG on everything from packaging design to the specific features of each product. That is to say: the musicians themselves remixed and created the sound effects heard when the speakers are turned on and off.
The new product also comes with "next-level" artificial intelligence capabilities that analyze the audio being played and automatically adjust the sound to best match the melody and rhythm of the song, as well as your listening space. As part of the new partnership, xboom speakers will have a dedicated button for users to instantly connect to will.i.am’s RAiDiO.FYI platform, which delivers “infotainment content” tailored to each listener by AI radio presenters ".
Will said he jumped at the opportunity not only to expand his work in artificial intelligence but also to incorporate his ideas into some truly high-tech devices.
“I’ve always been very territorial when it comes to audio products,” he says rolling stones. "When I met with LG and they said, 'We want to call these (speakers) 'xboom by will.i.am,' I was like, are these products done? If they're done, how can they Would you? But they said, “No, these are just sketches. "So I got excited and started thinking, 'How much can I improve them and make them even better?'"
Of course, the creative entrepreneur and FYI founder/CEO has long been at the forefront of audio technology and was an early partner of Beats by Dre. While LG may be better known for its televisions than its speakers, Will said he views the LG partnership in a similar light.
"These guys make the best stuff on the planet, so now they're back in audio, why not collaborate with the best and innovate?" he said. “I love that this is my first step back into hardware. There’s a void post-Beats,” he explains. “Beats isn’t just a consumer electronics brand; move. That's what we're about to do with LG. "
Part of what attracted will.i.am to the project was the integration of artificial intelligence, something he has long championed in his music career and technological pursuits. After Apple acquired the Beats brand, Will briefly launched his own audio product line, "Buttons," but operations stalled during the epidemic ("I stopped making hardware because during the COVID-19 pandemic, procurement was a mess," he explained). He quickly turned to software and founded FYI ("Focus Your Ideas"), developing what he calls "a new kind of media information company." Their focus: using artificial intelligence to increase productivity, precision and personalization in the creative community.
Will's touch is present throughout. Unlike the monotonous drone of "Siri" or "Alexa," FYI's AI radio host actually feels personable, like best friends chatting away about their favorite songs or podcasts. Weir demonstrated the technology at CES and got the crowd laughing while talking to a presenter who asked her to do everything from greeting the crowd ("How are you guys doing?") to dissecting CES. The hot trends of 2025 (and not surprisingly, artificial intelligence) is one of them). While some consumers remain skeptical of AI, will.i.am insists the technology will only enhance our entertainment experiences.
"Hollywood has done a great job with artificial intelligence and scaring people, while tech companies have done a poor job educating people about artificial intelligence," he said. "But we are already in an artificial intelligence universe. When you text , spell check will magically make us spell correctly, that’s artificial intelligence,” he explained. “There’s some version of artificial intelligence on your Instagram feed and your TikTok feed; where are your eyeballs when it’s populated based on your engagement and views? That thing is nothing but artificial intelligence.”
For will.i.am, the integration of artificial intelligence in his new LG range is just another way he's helping with customization - and democratization - culture. "It's about giving people the products and services they want and empowering them," he said. With AI radio integration in xboom speakers, it can also tailor recommendations to give people things they didn't know they wanted. "It's like your (social media) feed," Will explains. "And you're going to love it. It's going to be great."
The ‘xboom by will.i.am’ collection will hit retailers later this year, replacing the current xboom range. The range launches with the retro-style 'Bounce' portable speaker (pictured above); the 'xboom Grab', which boasts up to 20 hours of playtime in a tumbler-sized device; and the 'xboom Stage 301,' which is inspired by musicians on stage speakers used; and "xboom Buds," LG's latest noise-canceling earbuds.
The new products, which work with iOS and Android operating systems, are designed for casual listeners and audiophiles alike (will.i.am says they were inspired by the LG gear he has in his studio, but he sees portable speakers as "sports Shoes" resonates. Culture" also). The "LE Audio Auracast" feature allows users to connect multiple xboom devices together for synchronized audio output for an immersive listening experience. says the products provide “an expanded soundstage that surrounds the listener with enhanced clarity and depth. "
LG's new collaboration comes ahead of the Black Eyed Peas' new Las Vegas residency at the Planet Hollywood Hotel, where they will debut an AI member named Vida. Like the xboom speakers, will.i.am promises the AI portion of the show will surprise fans and teases an "emotional connection."
"It's hyper-interactive, which means it's not just some CGI on a screen," he said, adding that "Vida" is actually able to react to music, lights and crowds, providing a different experience every night.
A new audio collection, a booming tech company, and now a new location? Will a well-deserved vacation follow?
"No way," Will insisted. "I would literally go crazy and sit around doing nothing. I got a kick out of it."
