Of course, this year’s Mizzou-Auburn showdown cannot match the chaos of the last two games of the series.
Last season, Missouri football quarterback Brady Cook returned from a hospital visit inside the car to lead the final homecoming victory in Columbia. Two years ago, when Harrison Mevis missed the statute, ran back to the finish line in overtime after Harrison Mevis missed the chip shot, and Mu somehow lost his return home.
Of course, the showdown between the two tigers will be corrected this year.
No or not, Mizzou's first road game of the season looks like a harsh test against a seemingly improved AU lineup.
The Tribune is analyzing Mizzou's offseason for 2025 opponents to get you faster as new rosters and coaching staff changes after a busy offseason.
Here’s what Auburn knows about 2025, including key additions, coach changes and organizers to keep an eye on when MU will visit Jordan-Hare Stadium in October:
Quarterback: Jackson Arnold left Oklahoma after a bad season and he briefly saw his bench. Last season, he was one of the most likely players in the country, with a total of 9 spills (including that Against Missouri), a year later, he has 142.1 yards per game, 12 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.
The former five-star team will score a second shot in the SEC with Auburn, and he will look better when it comes to supporting the cast.
Offensive organizers: Eric Singleton Jr. last season, he scored 56 passes for 754 yards and three touchdowns in a running yellow jacket offense to support the 2023 freshman All-American season.
Defensive organizers: Falk will be the junior this season, perhaps Auburn's most influential player in the prime minister position. Last year, he registered seven sacks in 11 tackles and should be considered one of the highest return-to-edge stormtroopers in the league.
Noteworthy additions: Arnold (QB, Oklahoma); Singleton (WR, Georgia Tech); Xavier Chaplin (LT, Virginia Tech); Malik Autry (DT, HS); Mason Murphy (RT; USC)
Notable losses: Jarquez Hunter (RB, NFL); Keandre Lambert-Smith (WR, NFL); Jalen McLeod (DE, NFL); Rivaldo Fairweather (TE, UDFA); Eugene Asante (LB; UDFA)
Famous coach changes: N/A.
Hugh Freeze must get offensive and quarterback in the third year of executing the program, or quarterback this year, or maybe it's his head. Patience is not a rich product in Auburn, Alabama.
His main move in the transfer portal reflects this. Apart from Arnold and Singleton, Auburn's two biggest signings are highly ranked offensive wingers. Chaplin and Murphy are the Tigers' left and right tackles, respectively, and both are the top 250 transfer portals based on ON3's ratings.
Arnold should have weapons to work with. The starting passers with Singleton will be Cam Coleman and Malcolm Simmons, who combined 1,049 yards and 11 touchdowns last season. On the surface, this is as strong as the three you can find anywhere.
Damari Alston took over the run after supporting the Hunter, a fourth-round NFL draft pick last season, with an average of 5.3 yards per carry.
The Tigers have some NFL talent that can be replaced in terms of ball defense, but last season did a great job of giving young players reps, so there would be no expectation of the docks with the top six points allowed in every game allowed last year, which is not to expect to get too much backup from the unit.
Auburn's visit to Missouri was brutal, visiting Oklahoma and Texas A&M and following Mizzou in Georgia.
Surprisingly, the October 18 game was Mizzou’s first road race of the year, the second leg of the back-to-back Iron Bowl, with Alabama visiting Columbia the week before.
This is a genre of game where both fan groups can view and see it as a victory in an ideal world. The loss of any team means it may not meet its target.
As long as Eli Drinkwitz's roster doesn't show off from that game, it's a genre of games that can make MU have serious CFP conversations. The AU's schedule looks tough, but the quality is to win enough games to end the year as a top 25 team. These help resumes.
Auburn, who hasn't won the season since 2020, seems to be able to end the season's winning streak, and a home victory over Mizzou will greatly help the cause.
This game has been weird in the last two iterations.
No one knows if there are three consecutive championships in the store, but the 2025 Wild and Carnival Scale rankings will have a big impact during both teams. We think that by the time Game Week rolls, it's very likely that odds makers will include it in Pick-'Em within the Pick-'EM range.
