Why Joe and Eva are not eliminated

How could Joe and Eva dominate the game like this?

This is a problem survivor Fans’ thoughts. It is said that Survivor 48 There are 18 players struggling for million-dollar prizes, but sometimes it feels like there are only two. Joe Hunter has all the allies. Eva Erickson gained all the advantages. They speak very much about how never open each other. However, no one else opened them.

There are several reasons why this might be the case, and… why strategically, this may not be a bad thing.

I've been twice survivor Players and hosts survivor Almighty. I also own a novel that is available now to book and can delve into the feel of reality TV, so it's safe to say that I've been thinking about reality strategies for a long time. (The book is set on the Jungle Reality Show and has an existing former contestant and a shameful producer face to face as every attempt to control the show’s story arc.

If you haven’t watched this season, Joe and Eva come together on the first day of the game. Eva is a 24-year-old PhD student who has a deep connection with his father, Joe, who is the first to share a diagnosis of autism with her. They've been an indestructible pair ever since - it's so obvious to other players (Joe and Eva also openly discuss their leagues), and it's a mystery why they haven't been eliminated.

While the dynamic duo (weird) doesn't seem to be a conversation between players on the beach, it's been ignited with a lot of words online. Below, I'm asking some reasons why I think Joe and Eva have not been voted for yet (no, it's not because the producers are protecting them!):

Joe

Everyone thinks Joe is the biggest threat to win survivor 48. He has an incredible personal story: he is a firefighter father who is working for his sister to raise awareness of domestic violence. He has a deep connection with the actors. He is the challenge beast. He has a pocket ally in Eva.

He is obviously the highest poppy. Then why didn't they cut off his head?

Reason 1: Joe's game is very good

OK survivor Usually boring survivor. The best players in the game won't win with flashy moves or chaotic blind people. They win by keeping the league online. Boston Rob Leader Redemption Island By building a partner system so that his Ometepe alliance cannot betray him. exist A worldKim Spradlin convinced her accomplices that they were all her secret delicacies.

I don't necessarily think Joe is playing with these legends. In the last episode, he oscillated from complacency with his league to unnecessary paranoia. But at the same time, he paid great attention to building deep bonds. You can see Joe checking in every episode, making sure everyone feels good and connects with every ally in person.

Reason 2: Yes, they are making mistakes - but it's fun to watch!

I love how the old-fashioned bonds are shown this season. One thing survivor What's better than a board game is that it's set in the jungle. It's not just for the scenery. Physical deprivation builds a huge bond that challenges the needs of Cutthroat strategy games. One of the most frustrating parts of the new era is how many seasons feel like Gamebots performing the best action on other gaming robots. It may be exciting at the moment, but often feel empty. "Even if it's good for my game, I don't want to hurt anyone," Kyle said. It's also beautiful to watch him take the potential standard strategic move because it challenges him to something deeper.

Reason 3: Is voting really a good move?

I also think that it is actually possible to really provide some of the most influential players by keeping Joe in the game.

Shauhin or Kyle could consider them the second most threat on the board. If they take out Joe at 788, they might be elected to vote next. If Shauhin rolls over last week, he will suddenly face the alliance between Mitch-Mary-Kamilla-Kyle and a very angry Eva. Keeping the alliance structure ensures his safety. New Era Survivor just needs to wait until the last second to win the game. The best time for Shauhin strikes is probably the last six or even five…though this is also the last gambling in which Joe didn’t win the vital last immunity.

I also wonder - this is probably basic - will Joe lose the jury vote? In the final episode, it seems his paranoid might be getting his best. Perhaps there are painful jurors who will happily vote for the weak. David was obviously angry. Chrissy and Mary might feel like he keeps them out. If he backstab shauhin, he could face an overwhelming anti-joe jury.

Eva

OK, so there is a good reason to let Joe walk around. But why not vote? After all, she has a lot of hardware! An idol that everyone knows! Safety without power advantages! Why not try to blindly be before she has the chance to reach for a bag of tricks?

Reason 1: No one expects Eva to win

Eva's game is mainly following Joe and the players may not see her as a jury threat. When Xander on Survivor 41 was allowed to float to the end, we all scratched our heads. But when he reached the last tribe, he received zero votes. I can easily see Eva get goose eggs. (Not that there is anything wrong with this.)

On the other hand, if you target EVA, you can suffer a huge explosion. She plays an idol and suddenly, you might have to go home.

Reason 2: The game is not manipulated - Eva is lucky

Over the past few weeks, a lot of online discourse has been about how Eva broke the game and how she gained an unfair advantage. Many point out the now infamous picture, showing her rewards, and have a custom setting next to the advantage clue. This means that the childbirth essentially handed her her safety without power.

Robert Voets/CBS

But if you look at the EVA's clue, it will read "Your efforts in today's challenges have earned you a secret advantage." It sounds like it's for who The immunity challenge won that week. Personally, I think the poorly designed production can provide more rewards to players who win immunity. Challenges and advantages prefer different styles of play – on the one hand, you have to be strong and coordinated; on the other hand, you have to be cunning and sneaky. But I don't think production is particularly fond of EVA. You just have to check out the strengths of the past episode, knowledge is power, which allows contestants to steal idols or advantages from other players. Basically, it is laser-targeted for EVA, and only by drawing purple rocks did Eva manage to somehow be on this journey.

(From the side note, I heard that some people say Eva should lose her vote when she hits the tower before the clock is finished. I can guarantee she gets approval from production, rather than wasting everyone’s time waiting on the hourglass.)

Hot stories

I know there are a lot of people who are frustrated this season. I yelled on TV, too. But for years we have been begging survivors to throw wider players, not only strategists who know every angle but people who are not very familiar with the show, who have only watched it for a few seasons and make big mistakes. People like David cast characters give us sublime moments, he stands up to honor Mary, who tweets: "The way I want to cry for my vote, but then David stands up and I cry." To be sure, it's great to see David and Mary's obvious friendship throughout the season, but that effect won't be so pleasant.

In my mind, there is no big move in the heart and big lmfao this season.
