Los Angeles police said a 16-year-old boy died early Sunday at a "flyer party" at a Woodland Hills mansion, and six people were injured, attracting more than 200 people.
Police said officials responded to multiple reports at 1:30 a.m. that there was a shooting at a large party at a 5900 block of Winnetka Avenue.
According to Guy Golan of the Los Angeles Police Department homicide, between 200 and 300 people attending the party gathered at home for a flyer party, named after the ad. The party is known as the VIP event.
"There was some sort of argument that led to multiple shots," Golan told KTLA-TV.
Authorities told KTLA that a male party member was escorted from the property while firing a fire on the crowd, fatally hurting a 16-year-old man. The 16-year-old died at the scene. Another six were also injured between the ages of 19 and 34.
The identity of the teenager who was killed has not been released yet.
The house where partying was held between Hatteras and Oxnard Streets was at the end of a long driveway on a hillside in Winnetka Avenue. The 8,000-square-foot "Mega Mansion" is listed on Booking.com for $2,100 per night. Golan said the house is well-known for hosting parties, but is not considered a problem place.
"Nothing," Golan said.
Videos displayed by Instagram user @drider42 show people screaming and crying after the shooting. When officers arrived at the scene, partyers pointed to the driveway and said someone was shot.
Party members gathered on the ground with a man, paramedics and police officers providing medical assistance.
"They shot my brother," said one, their voices filled with emotion. "Who is F-shooting my brother?"
The man who recorded the video and regarded himself as Daniel said he waited in line for two hours to attend the event, which he said was called the College Party by the organizers. He heard security guards say they were worried about what was going on inside, and that was when he heard the gunshots.
"Hundreds of kids started running, jumping on the fence and landing on the ground to save themselves, and then I started recording," Daniel said. "Safety is terrible."
Daniel estimates there are hundreds of people at the event, many of whom are underage.
In a statement from the organization, the team that organized the event (an angry parties) said they were working with police investigations.
"We were shocked by the events that happened last night. Our hearts and prayers were sent to everyone affected and their families. "There is no words that really express all of us. Pain and shock felt. ”
One of the group's organizers and members of the safety team were "injured and hospitalized" but they are recovering, the statement said.
“Our team is committed to supporting everyone involved,” the statement said.
