White Sox respects Pope Leo with graphics installation on fee field

Pope Leo Xiv was recognized at the Chicago White Sox baseball field in honor of his 2005 World Series attendance.

The team plans to unveil the graphics on Monday in honor of the pope.

Last week, Chicago native Robert Prevost revealed his White socks Fever and footage of Prevost who surfaced on social media in the first World Series 2005.

With pure chance, Prevost showed the game on MLB on Fox Radio on the US Cellular Field on October 22, 2005, and the camera grabbed him at the top of the ninth inning as the White Sox beat the Houston Astros 5-3.

The new graphics at Rate Field marks the location where the future Pope cheers for Chicago in 5-3, Game 1 win, the first of the championship's four games.

The group said the pillar artwork commemorates the Pope's Chicago roots, "a unified force on the world stage."

According to White Sox, the pope competed with late family and season ticket holder Ed Schmit. They knew each other through their work at a Catholic high school on the south side of Chicago, and Schmidt's son Nick remains an account holder for the Pope World Series seat.

The White Sox and their fans who have struggled in recent years Hug Their connection to the new pope since his election. The team said it sent a jersey and hat to the Vatican after the announcement.
