Waynesboro Jaeda Dockman wins gold medal

Shippensburg - The two days of the District 3 Track and Field Championships are almost no different. After rain soaking, Saturday was under almost perfect conditions after the weather changes on Friday.

But the two days are the same in this regard: Every day, Franklin County won a gold medal.

Waynesboro's Jaeda Dockman was Saturday's champion, winning the 3A women's high jump 5-5 on the medal stand at Seth Grove Stadium at Shippensburg University.

Dockman's pursuit of gold began on Friday afternoon, but a pair of thunderstorms pushed the incident and several others to Saturday. The delay has little impact on seniors, one of only 5-5 competitors among 17 competitors.

Dockman cleared the game 4-11 and 5-1 before making his first attempt at a 5-3 run. She chose to pass 5-4 before trying to clear 5-5 with all three.

The final clarity is crucial because the first attempt, Spring Grove's second-place Ella Bahn has cleared all heights of up to 5-4 and would have taken the gold myself if it weren't for the last chance of Dockman.

James Buchanan's busy day

Perhaps more affected by Friday's activity than other athletes, distance runners and some throwers.

For example, James Buchanan's Katelyn Clever had to run 2A girls 1,600 and 3,200 meters running on Saturday, instead of having them break up like they usually do at district meetings. But she turned her chance into hardware, ranking third in 1,600 with 5:22.33 and third in 3,200 with 12:04.10.

“I’m a little happy because I think they rushed to the game yesterday,” Clever said of the timeline changes. “It’s like a regular meeting.”

Smart is within a few steps of the first halfway through the 3200, but has not been able to remain a leader for the past 800 years.

“I just want to lead,” Clever said. “I have to be consistent and keep the lead in the game because I have so many kicks.”

Ainsley Green also had an unusually busy day for the Rockets, participating in all three throwing events. She won the bronze medal in the final of the final 33-11½. She finished 13th in the javelin with a 91-1 and 14 record in the discus match with 81-2.

However, Alexis Martin added to James Buchanan's medal count, 104-0 in the Javelin, which was the fifth medal.

Jenna Wible ranked third in the 400 with 1:00.78.

Cheyenne Eby won two sixth medals. She posted 12.87 in 100 and 26.88 in 200.

Lilly Garbinski finished sixth after clearing 4-10 in his third high jump attempt.

The Rockets Relay received the medal stand, all three opportunities they had. The 4x800 team of Kaleigh Wiker, Dora Atherton, Kimber Yeager and Addie Cullers ranked fourth with a score of 10:27.57. Bella Helm, Natalie Fleming, Garbinski and Eby jointly finished seventh in the 4x100 relay 51.29. Closed the day, Coors, Eby, Yeager and Wible's 4x400 relay team ranked seventh with 4:15.13.

Consistency of Blake Marast of Chambersburg

Chambersburg's Blake Mallast won two bronze medals on Saturday, after having issued 11.10 on the 100 dash and 21.68 out of 200 dash.

Friday's weather means 200 times are timed finals, although 100 is only the final.

"I feel great because yesterday's preliminary match (100) match." "There's a bit too much headwind today. ... I can't complain, I'm going to the country."

MALLAST, like all 3A champions players in all competitions and 2A champions, will return in the PIAA Championships in Shippensburg from May 23 to 24.

"Next week, I want to run 20 out of 200 and 10.4 out of 100," Marast said. “If the weather is good, I can do it.”

Trojan's 4x800 relay team, Aiden Aleman, Cole Lehman and Liam Kirkpatrick ranked fourth with a 8:09.89 mark.

Kirkpatrick added the fifth medal in 3200 at 9:25.86.

Luke Mertz also won the fourth medal from Chambersburg after clearing 13-6 in the pole vault. He needs all three attempts to go above 12-6, and then clears 13-0 and 13-6 in one attempt.
