Wynne Evans apologized for comments he later called "inappropriate and unacceptable"

Welsh opera singer Wynne Evans has apologized for "inappropriate and unacceptable" comments she made at the launch of her Strictly Come Dancing live tour earlier this month.

The Mail on Sunday reporter recorded the sultry comments made by Evans, 52, as he prepared to take the stage for a photo shoot at Birmingham Stadium.

"My language was inappropriate and unacceptable, for which I sincerely apologize," Evans told BBC News in a statement.

A spokesman for Strictly Live Tour and BBC Studios said: "We have made it clear to Wayne that we will not tolerate this type of behavior on tour."

The spokesperson added: "We were not previously aware of this comment and have not received any complaints."

Evans starred in BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing last year with dance partner Katya Jones. He is now on a UK tour of the series, with the last of 30 shows scheduled for February 9.

The BBC Radio Wales presenter did not dance during Saturday's show in Glasgow due to an ankle injury, but he did sing. He said in a video on Instagram that he hopes to start dancing again on Sunday night.

Evans' behavior on the show raised eyebrows among viewers, with some calling it " embarrassing incident. That includes an October episode in which Jones appeared to reject Evans' high-five and remove his hand from her waist.

The pair later said the high-five moment was a "joke" between them, while Jones said Evans' placing his hand on her waist "made me feel uncomfortable or offended in any way" and that it was "totally It’s nonsense.”
