2025 U.S. Figure Skating Championships competitors, predictions
The country's top figure skaters will compete this week for four senior national titles in men's, women's, pairs and ice dance.
The team includes every one of last year's national champions: Ilia Malinin, Amber Glenn, ice dancers Madison Chock and Evan Bates Bates, and duo Ellie Kam and Danny O'Shea.
Jock and Bates are both the reigning world champions and favorites to win the national ice dance competition. Others on the podium should include Caroline Green and Michael Parsons, as well as Christina Carrera and Antoni Ponomarenko.
With her signature triple axel, Glenn became the top skater in women's singles skating in the Autumn Grand Prix series and won the Grand Prix final. Glenn is the sixth American woman to complete the Axel triple in international competition. She won her first U.S. title last year and is expected to win it again in 2025.
"Four Gods" Ilya Marinin is the defending champion of the men's team and is once again expected to defend the national championship. He will be challenged by former top five player Camden Purkinen.
The pairs event is open, with top contenders including former silver medalists Emily Chan and Spencer Howe, as well as rising stars Alisa Efimova and Mi Misha Mitrofanov, in addition to Kam and O'Shea.
Terry Gannon returns to handle play-by-play, with 1998 Olympic gold medalist Tara Lipinski and three-time U.S. champion Johnny Weir serving as analysts. Five-time U.S. ice dance champion and Olympic silver medalist Ben Agosto will serve as ice dance analyst, while Andrea Joyce returns as a reporter.
