SAN FRANCISCO - He told Marc J. Spears of the Landscape on Monday night, Warriors superstar Stephen Curry will be able to win a fifth game Wednesday on Wednesday night.
"I can't do it even if I want to be Superman," Curry told Spears, referring to his hamstring injury.
Curry responded to comments from teammate Draymond Green that the Warriors and Curry wouldn't try "Superman" if the stars aren't fully prepared to return.
Without Curry, the Warriors lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves 4, 117-110. With a 3-1 drop, the Warriors now have to win Minneapolis in Game 5 to keep their season alive and most likely have to do so without the curry.
Curry suffered pressure from his left hamstring in the second quarter of his first game last Tuesday. He will reassess the day of Game 5.
If the Warriors can extend their season, that could give Curry another three days to recover before playing Game 6 at Chase Center on Sunday.
"No, we're not going to go to Superman," Green said. "If he were in a place where he could play, I'm sure he would. He and Rick (the celebrator, Warriors VP of the players' health and performance), everyone would figure it out. But we don't need it (Curry tried to be Superman).
"It has to be played long games. We know he will if he can. But there is no pressure. We have to figure out how to win his game."
Without Curry, the Warriors canceled 17-0 in the third quarter, which turned 68 games into a Wolves' rout. The Warriors ranked 39-17 in the third quarter with a score of 39-17. Jimmy Butler played 43 minutes, scored 33 points in Game 3 and scored only nine shots in Game 4, with 14 points and 6 rebounds.
Green said Butler was sick all day long. Butler, who spoke after almost every game of the season, left when he opened up to the media when the locker room was open to the media. Butler felt “very bad” all day, Green said.
"We obviously need him to shoot," Green said. "But their defense, they collapsed today. So we tried to catch this slack. But I know he was feeling uncomfortable. It was bad all day. It also affected the energy. There was no excuse here.
"I think it's mine. I have to find a way to get him into more points. I think tonight I just want him to get the ball, I don't think I'll take him to a good place and then get him to load him on him. So I have to do better so that he can make it easier for him to master his defense in a better place, so that he doesn't master him that much."
The Warriors will need Butler to keep their season alive, especially the Curry may take more time to recover.
"He's not that active tonight tonight," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. "But I don't see a lot of vacancy either. Ideally, we could do more shots around him to open the floor a little bit. But we won't be able to do that much when Stephen leaves.
"We're going to look at the videotape and see where we can find some vacancy for him. I know he'll be aggressive on Game 5."
Wolves star guard Anthony Edwards scored 30 points in Game 4, saying he hopes he plays Curry now.
"Trust me, man, I hope he can fight him there," Edwards said. "But yes, working out with him since the summer, that's what I told him after hitting A(3). Because he told me, I missed one. He was like, 'You won't do that. You're too open.'
“I was like, ‘I will never stop shooting them. I learned that from you this summer.’ He is the greatest shooter of all time.
