"Warning footage" of Israel firing near West Bank diplomats

Many countries condemned the Israeli military's actions after they fired warning shots near diplomatic delegations during their visit to the occupied West Bank.

The Israeli military accused the group of wandering from an approved route and said warning shots were "stayed away from them." It says "the inconvenience caused by regret."

There were no reports of Israel fighting armed Palestinian groups there for many years in the events in the city of Jenning.

Many countries, some of which have diplomats visiting, condemn Israel's actions - including Spain, Egypt, France, Türkiye and Italy.

Some countries involved said they would call an Israeli ambassador to consider the incident and call for an investigation and explanation of Israel.

The Palestinian Authority (PA), which ruled parts of the occupied West Bank, accused Israeli security forces of deliberately targeting "heuristic crimes."

It said the organization is conducting an official visit with the Palestinian authorities to “observe and assess the humanitarian situation and record the ongoing violations of the (Israel) occupation forces against the Palestinian people”.

The IDF said in a statement that its troops had issued a "warning" to ensure that the delegation did not enter "in areas where Jenning was authorized to be authorized."

It said the diplomats “deviated from the approved route” and “repent the inconvenience caused by the incident.

The IDF added that it will update the internal findings of the incident with the representatives of the countries involved.

A European diplomat said the group had been going to "see the destruction" caused by Israel's operations for months.

Pennsylvania said dozens of countries including Egypt, Jordan, Spain, Türkiye, France and the United Kingdom were involved.

Condemn countries from Europe and the wider Middle East, particularly criticizing it for posing risks to the lives of diplomats.

Spain, Italy and France are they saying they will call the Israeli ambassador to clarify what happened, while the head of the EU's foreign policy said any threat to the lives of diplomats was "unacceptable" and called on those responsible to take responsibility.

Egypt said the shots of the group "violated all diplomatic norms", while Türkiye said it was "another testimony to Israel's disregard for international law and human rights."

The two countries call for an immediate investigation and explanation of Israel.

The Israeli military has been there for many years fighting armed Palestinian factions. Hundreds of Palestinians and dozens of Israeli people have been killed in a surge in violence in the West Bank since October 7, 2023.

Since the occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem in the Middle East War in 1967, Israel has built about 160 settlements, covering an area of about 700,000 Jews.

The vast majority of the international community believes that settlements are illegal under international law, and this position is supported by the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), although Israel objected.
