Photo and video editing platform VSCO launched an AI-powered collaboration mood board to expand how photographers and artists use their products.
The mood board is called a canvas and can be imported and edited using the standard VSCO editing tool - so you can adjust settings such as shadow, brightness, exposure, temperature, hue, grain, blur, vibrancy, and tones.
AI ribs come into play when you want to generate images using text prompts. The mood board also allows you to select a portion of the image and use the Area Prompt menu to make the AI recreate these parts with text prompts. The weights of the area prompts can be adjusted using the slider to generate different versions.
There is also a variant button, as stated on Tin, AI creates variants that generate images. This also comes with a slider to control the distance of the original image that was generated.
Users can share mood boards with others in the project and create a different iteration of ideas.
"Photographers often work alone, using Google Slides or Pinterest to create a vision for projects they want to show their clients. We think there may be a better tool designed to be designed with the positive and central creators of creators," VSCO CEO Eric Wittman told TechCrunch.
The Mootboard feature uses technology from the image editing startup called Facet, which VSCO acquired last year. Facet has raised more than $13 million in funding before it secured funding.

Book nowThis is the first time VSCO has implemented AI capabilities in its products, and the company says it has gained positive appeal. VSCO said that using AI during the canvas testing phase generated more than 84% of the content.
The company plans to enable users to search for VSCO and import photos uploaded to the platform into mood boards.
A few days after Adobe launched its own mood board, it features AI-powered image generation and editing. Startups such as Visual Electric, Cove and Kosmik are also trying to build whiteboards and mood boards to help people collaborate on ideas.
All users can use canvas, but paid subscribers will get extra credit to prompt and generate images of AI models.
