At the end of the era of Test Cricket in India, Virat Kohli retired with batting star Rohit Sharma.

Indian batsman Virat Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket, bringing the curtains of a glittering career in the longest form after Captain Rohit Sharma did the same.

Kohli made her debut in 2011 and scored 30th century and 9,230 runs on an average of 46.85 runs in 123 Tests, expected to be available in one-day international competitions.

The 36-year-old immediately withdrew from Twenty20 International after India won its second over 20 World Cup trophy in the West Indies last year.

"It's been 14 years since I first wore loose blue. Honestly, I never imagined the journey this format would bring to me," Kohli posted on Instagram on Monday.

“It has tested me, shaped me, and taught me a lesson for my life.

"Playing white people has a profound personality. Quiet grinding, long days, the moment when no one sees it, but stay with you forever."

Although Kohli's final exam ended Australia's 3-1 Test Series in January, which allowed India to abandon the Border-Gavaskar trophy for the first time in a decade, he will be remembered with a spell between 2014 and 2022.

Kohli won his 40 of his 68 charges for India Tests to be the country's most successful captain and ranked fourth on the list of the most victorious captains.

Only Graeme Smith (53), Ricky Ponting (48) and Steve Waugh (41) won more exams.

India led Kohli, who was at the helm, to the helm, to the helm, to 17 losses in his 2021 loss to New Zealand.

He is also a member of the team that lost to Australia's second world exam championship final in 2023.

He added: “I walked away with a heart of gratitude – for the game, the people I share with the field, and everyone who made me see along the way.”

“I always look back on my exam career with a smile.”

India's next test mission is five matches in England on June 20.
