Police are investigating the incident involving former NFL player Antonio Brown after a viral video of the fight Friday.
The initial officer initially responded to shooting alerts in the Northeast 2nd Avenue and 67th Street areas, according to Miami police. When the officers arrived at the site, it was a boxing match held by the popular streamer Adin Ross.
Brown wrote this on social media platform X on Saturday morning, and he competed in a boxing match Friday night, with several people allegedly trying to rob him.
"I was jumped by multiple people who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me," the 36-year-old said.
Only videos posted by Dade show him fighting back. In another video, Brown is seen apparently holding a black pistol while chasing someone. Shortly thereafter, the camera could be heard from the camera, but his social media posts did not mention gunfire.
Another video shows Brown being detained by police and then walking to the cruiser in handcuffs.
Brown said he was temporarily detained and then released without arrest. He said he would talk to the lawyer.
Officer Kiara Delva, a department spokesman, said police asked several people but did not arrest them. No injuries were reported on the scene.
Delva said the investigation was still going on and she could not confirm the names of anyone involved.
Brown played for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2010 to 2018, where he became one of the NFL's highest receiving threats, leading the league's catch twice. His career has experienced a decline due to various field and off-court issues, including the Oakland Raiders’ contract void before the 2019 season began.
He split his last three NFL seasons in New England and Tampa Bay, and his career ended with Brown taking off his jersey, mat and gloves while walking off the court in the Buccaneers' 2021 regular season regular season finals against the New York Jets. Brown announced his retirement a few months later.
