The U.S. Women’s National Team will use Nike’s new kit to celebrate its 40th anniversary, not just another set of threads. These are USWNT's most daring uniforms to date.
The main white kit is not white. It's a denim-inspired blue star design that reminds some fans of the men's kit from the 1994 World Cup, but they don't have the cheesyness of those shirts. USWNT's efforts are more modern and composed, which is hard to achieve with a risky idea, but these are definitely OK.
Navy and blue trim around the neck and sleeves helps keep the kit composed and tied in the crests and Nike badges, so everything fits. This is a very clever design that makes it perfect for a 40th anniversary jersey.
And, despite being a sensational patriotic kit that conveys the American flag, the main shirt is not the bold shirt in the suit.
The secondary kit is the real swing of USWNT and NIKE, as they look absolutely gorgeous in obsidian (if you call it black) shirts and thin red and blue stripes.
The spacing of the stripes is perfect, which makes this undoubtedly an obsidian jersey, red and blue are simply used as accents, but they are amazing accents. They obviously make it an American shirt without having to hit Americana in the head like a Class 1 uniform.
Decoration also goes a long way, blending this kit together, with the red color of the neck and sleeves making the whole thing look coherent and thoughtful. It also gives the shape of the shirt and thinks red is the main decorative color, making the blue feel like the last touch.
An obsidian shirt will be an instant classic and you will see people wearing it for ten years from now on. Anything black or near-black is a must-have because it easily slides into anyone’s closet, and this shirt will do that and become the choice for fans of the game, bar, bar or night out.
Individually, these are two great kits that will stand among the best American shirts in a long time, but they are even better together.
The main shirt screamed American and international football, while the second-tier kit looked as if it came out of the street at 1 a.m. and just fit the court. Celebrities have returned to 31 years, and obsidian is the future.
They are suites that work together, representing two distinct aesthetics, but they also work together. From using the same red trim and Nike swooshes to the texture of the fabric, both kits have the necessary depth, neither feeling they come from two different places. Even the tag uses a backward design of the Federal Modern motto (one country, one team" – which bridges the gap between the two toolkits.
Two shirts have opposite designs, and these shirts are prone to conflict, but these shirts don't. There is a clear thread through.
If there is one criticism, it is that USWNT's main 40th anniversary kit will be compared with men's jerseys due to the iconic 1994 outfit, but men have little claiming to be in the stars and stripes nations.
Overall, this is an amazing set of kits that should fly out of the shelf. Too bad it is that none of these will be worn in big matches, but will be tilted against China on May 31, and the USWNT will be friendly in the 2027 World Cup matches, but who are we complaining about the great kit?
