USC blown up by Oregon to build regional final rematch between teams

USC wants to know that it is entering a hostile environment, playing in front of 4,347 people sold out at Goss Stadium.

The Trojan tried to set the tone early.

Instead, it backfired, giving them early chances, early momentum and eventually losing 14-1 to Oregon State finals on Sunday night.

USC opened with two hard hits. Brayden Dowd singles, Ethan Hedges then stood out from the bats at 104 mph to the right center field. It paired the wall with a simple double, which could make the Trojan score with two runners without getting out. But USC third base coach Travis Jewett almost immediately swirled his arm to send Moral home.

Shortstop Aiva Arquette, the top 10 draft picks for next month’s Major League Baseball Draft, opened a throwing house that brought receiver Wilson Weber to baseline, where he applied the tag to Dowd while his knee collided with the Trojans outfielder’s head.

The drama inspired the crowd at home and set the tone for the defeat, and despite the second game facing elimination, the eighth-placed national seed Beaver completely defeated the Trojan. Oregon State beat St. Mary 20-3 on Sunday afternoon to reach the finals.

After first knocking it out of their initial attempt to sacrifice, the Trojans tried twice to cut runners with bad luck. When the ball bounces, the third baseman fighter attempts to bounce barefoot while the ball is bounced. The beaver is tied up again on the next court. First baseman Adrian Lopez tried to go home and it was too late.

Before Oregon State returned to the game, the next running base attacked for the fourth time, prompting the crowd to start chanting "Little ball! Little ball! Little ball!"

Oregon State added two runs in the third inning to lead 6-1. USC has a huge chance to rejoin the fifth inning, loading the base without knockouts, and the core of the lineup is what it deserves.

But the Beaver’s pitchers took a 3-4-5 batsman all night long with the UC 3-4-5 batsman. Starter Wyatt Queen defeated Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek for the third time and handed the ball to reliefers Kellan Oakes, who beat Lopez and Abbrie Covarrubias to escape the jam.

Oregon State then piled up runs with less-used weapons in USC’s bullpen, earning its sixth run on Trent Caraway’s fourth home run.
