With the 2025 NFL Draft now behind us, what does the depth chart of the Indianapolis Colts look like in every position on the offense?
While there are still some free agents out there, there are available cap space and the Colts currently have to finalize their UDFA addition, the current roster is largely the group where Indianapolis will be going to join the camp with the training camp.
So let's enjoy the 30,000-foot view of the offensive end of the ball and the state of the unit, and take a look at the Colts' squad one by one.
The Colts scored three-pointers in Shane Steichen’s first two seasons. Ideally there is a competition on the roster between Riley Leonard and Jason Bean, but as a recent draft pick, Leonard will have an edge in winning the QB3 role.
GM Chris Ballard said at the NFL Federation that the Colts need more production in their backup role this season, so I like the increase in this room. Herbert's spinback is past, and Giddens has improved his big game ability to the NFL level, averaging 6.5 yards per rush in his final season. I have a question, is it possible to provide the Colts with a pass game in the backcourt?
The Colts got a much-needed pass game when they landed Warren in the first round, but his impact will be more than just a pass game. Warren is versatile, able to line up throughout the formation and is also a good runner. At Penn State, he was asked to play various roles and the Colts should do the same thing as him. At the close end, all presence adds some unpredictability to the offense.
The UDFA reportedly added a couple, but it was a post on this offseason roster, especially once Ashton Dulin is re-signed, the Colts don't have to join.
Travis's joining is important as he gives the Colts the flexibility to move Matt Goncavis to the right back. Before the draft, if the Colts moved Goncavis inside in a roster-building manner, that would make Blake Freeland possible as a swing tackle for the team and he struggled early in his career. That being said, I still believe the Colts’ prudent move will lead to a game for Goncavis. Although Ballard thought Goncalves could be guarded since the Colts drafted him, it was still a position change he might be experiencing, and although everyone's eyes would be on quarterback battles, I don't know that the offensive line game wasn't good enough, which is important.
