The Oklahoma baseball team entered its last weekend of the regular season and became the NCAA Championship lockdown. The question is still where Sooners will play.
It will go a long way toward Texas weekends in determining destinations.
OU entered Week 10 of the Southeast Conference Section, ranking 10th in the 16 team league. With a record of 13-14 in league games and a total of 32-17, the Sooners will undoubtedly receive an invitation to the NCAA Championship. But that's far from last year's call, when Sooners was awarded the National Seed and held responsibilities in Norman.
However, this did not resolve, as Connecticut demolished Oklahoma in the area. With the record of this season, OU will almost certainly compete in their first game. In the SEC standings, they have so many teams ahead of them that there are no other teams. Unless next week's SEC Championship sweeps the Longhorns, perhaps an in-depth match in the SEC Championship.
Even with a sweep, the Sooners were unable to beat the top five teams in the standings, so they could only see one more in the conference tournament. But, more likely, OU threw the scene to Texas and stumbled on the rankings, ending between No. 14 and No. 9.
Any result below ninth will lead to playing in the first round of Hoover, Alabama next Tuesday. Capturing the SEC Championship requires five wins. No. 5 to 8 seeds will automatically participate in the second round, with the league's top four finishers BYES to the quarterfinals. The game is single extinct.
This is the look of the rankings, and each team’s schedule is heading into Thursday.
