Jack Della Maddalena robbed Belal Muhammad's strong wrestling ability and was allowed to be the new middleweight champion in the main match of the Final Battle Championship (UFC) 315 in Montreal, Canada.
He won five games on Saturday night with 48-47, 48-47, 49-45.
Della Maddalena hit the current welterweight champion with a batting, ending the fight almost several times. Della Maddalena (18-2, Mixed Martial Arts) now wins 18 games in a row. Mohamed (24-4, 1 No Competition) is playing his first championship defense and won the battle 11 times in a row.
Della Maddalena thinks Muhammad's resilience, but the fight later said he knew he wouldn't let it slip away.
The Australian smiled and said, "It feels good."
He said that UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev, who may move towards secondary sports again and again, and is willing to avenge Russia, is interested in him. His Australian Alexander Volkanovski lost to Makhachev.
This is the first loss for Chicago native Mohammed since January 2019.
Valentina Shevchenko successfully defended her UFC Women’s Lightweight Championship in a joint home game at Manon Fiorot and won her first UFC loss with a decision of 48-47, 48-47, 48-47.
Despite the intense battle, Shevchenko (25-4, 1 NC MMA) pushed the pace in the fourth and fifth rounds to exhaustion and provided a small space for the French women to signs of early success in three tough rounds.
"I expect a tough battle," Kyrgyzstan's 125-pound Shevchenko said in the octagon after the victory.
The victory marked Shevchenko's 14th place in the UFC, including 10 title games.
Canadian lightweight Aiemann Zahabi initially set the lightweight battle with the heaviest battle, winning through a unanimous decision against former UFC lightweight champion Jose Aldo, matching three points with a 29-28 score.
Aldo nearly finished Zahabi in the third round and then went on a strike. However, Zahabi is able to survive Aldo's attack, get the highest position, and turn on the cut on Aldo.
Zahabi (13-2, MMA) victory marked the final MMA battle for Brazilian Aldo (32-10), announcing his retirement in the Octagon.
"I just don't have the heart of it anymore. I think this is the last time you've seen me," said Aldo, 38.
Brazil's women's lightweight Natalia Silva won the highest position of former champion Alexa Grasso with a unanimous decision with a 30-27 record.
Silva (19-5-1, MMA) won her first six UFC fights, while Mexico's Grazo (16-5-1, MMA) had to return to the drawing board to keep the competition. Silva made a noticeable cut above Grasso's eyelid, swung momentum in the second round, then followed by a single ball 3 and with the advantage of Taekwondo ability.
France's lightweight Benoit Saint-Denis beat Canadian Kyle Prepolec in 2:35 in the second round with no effort.
It was the first victory for Saint-Denis (14-3) since November 2023, snatching skis from two battles. Prepolec (18-9) stepped in with Joel Alvarez (22-3) and made his first appearance since 2019.
