Manchester United clashed with Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League All England final on Wednesday, which had a significant impact on both the field and the field.
The final winners not only won the terrible five-fifths of the European Championship, but based on their terrible bottom championships, but also took out their gold tickets to the lucrative UEFA Champions League next season, resulting in tens of millions of dollars in additional income.
Al Jazeera Sport has won between the classic champions and top champion clubs, two of England's tallest clubs, hoping to reverse their regrettable season with an unexpected European victory.
There has never been any final in any UEFA competition, and both clubs are so low on their domestic league table.
Both clubs headed to Bilbao finals, raiding their criticism in the worst season of the Premier League era.
Manchester United ranked 16th on the ladder, with Tottenham Hotspur having only one league game in the 17th.
Only relegation three Ipswich, the fight between Leicester and Southampton has lifted Manchester United and Tottenham from an awkward battle to avoid breaking into the second-tier championship.
UEFA allows winners of their second-tier Europa League matches to go directly to the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League without other qualified matches.
Additionally, they will be given the right to compete with the winner of the 2024-25 Champions League in the UEFA Super Cup on August 13.
For Bilbas final losers, this disastrous domestic season hangover could be a long dorm, with European football exiles not available until at least at least the 2026-27 season.
The winner of the Europa League final could receive a boost of up to €65 million ($73 million).
This calculation is achieved by combining Europa League prize money with TV and goal revenues, from the winning team participating in the league stages of the Champions League next season.
The two teams last met at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on February 16, with James Maddison's 13th minute match champion giving the home team a 1-0 victory over United.
The Spurs have won all three games against Manchester United in all matches this season, twice in the Premier League and once in the EFL Cup quarterfinals.
Manchester United's last victory in the Premier League was on March 16, winning 3-0 at Leicester. Since then, Ruben Amorim’s side has recorded six losses and two draws in domestic games.
Manchester United's only two wins in May were in the Europa League semi-finals against athletic clubs.
In the last two months of the Premier League season, the Spurs are equally scary, losing five times in their last six games, shooting once.
Their last domestic league win was a 3-1 home win against Southampton on April 6, leading to media speculation that manager Ange Postecoglou's job is threatened next season.
The St. Mams Stadium in Bilbao, Spain is the venue for the finals.
The stadium has a seating capacity of over 50,000 and is home to the sports club, who accidentally came to the final by Manchester United in the Europa League semi-finals on May 8.
UEFA has confirmed that the two teams will allocate 15,000 tickets each, with another 11,000 tickets for general sale, with the rest being offered to hotels and sponsors.
According to Manchester United's official website, the Red Devils received a triple promotion on the eve of the Europa League final, while the swaggers of stars Diogo Dalot, Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee participated in the team's cumulative training course on Tuesday.
Zirkzee was left out for the rest of the season after suffering a hamstring injury in April, but had the option after missing the last eight games of Manchester United.
Another Dutch centre-back, Matthijs de Ligt, was also suspicious before the game started, but had some training drills in a personal workout Tuesday.
Forward Rasmus Hojlund, who has been struggling for most of the season, was led by Amorim's frontline.
The Spurs will line up without major midfielders Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski and promised youngster Lucas Bergvall, who were both excluded from injuries.
Maddison, who will miss the rest of the season in his knees, did board the team bus for Bilbao, but despite being excluded by Postecoglou, media speculated that he might play in the final.
Captain Tottenham’s son, Son Heung-Min, suffered a foot injury in April and suffered seven straight games, will adapt to the finals after his first game against Aston Villa last Friday, according to the team.
Tottenham Hotspurs' back row is better news, with previous injured defenders Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven both available.
Joint Start XI: Onena (GK); Yoro, Maguire, Lindelof; Mazraoui, Casemire, Ugars, Dorgu; Fernandez, Amate; Hojlund
Tottenham may start xi: Vicario (GK); Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Sarr, Bissouma, Bentancur; Johnson, Solank, Son
Winners of the 2025 Europa League final will receive a prize of 13 million euros ($14.6 million). The runner-up was allocated 7 million euros ($7.87 million).
Both clubs can use the money to pay off their debts: The Spurs lost £26 million ($34.7 million) last year, while United's deficit was 113 million pounds ($151 million) in the same period.
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim: "I think it's a mixed feeling. I'm really excited, but at the same time, I know my responsibilities as a Manchester United coach. I've been frustrated with the season, so I really hope I really want to help the team win this final. We have to go to the club, to the fans, to the staff, to everyone, to everyone."
Tottenham Hotspur Manager Ange Postcoglou: "I mean, who cares if we are struggling in the league? Why is that important? If it's so easy to get to the finals, why wouldn't everyone who doesn't play in the top three do that?
"We understand our league form and it's not great. We understand our struggles. A lot of it is because we've been in the situation. But how does that reduce the achievement that goes to the finals?
"I don't care who is struggling, who is not. I think we and Manchester United have both won the right to be there."
Tottenham Hotspur captain Heung-Min: "We always respect our opponents, but I think it's important to do what we need to do. I think the United players would think the same thing. It's definitely a great game, but it's going to be a difficult game. But I think we want to win more wins.
“I’ve done everything for ten years except one thing (winning European Championship).
