LOS ANGELES - Right-handed Tyler Glasnow was placed on the 15-day injury list by the Los Angeles Dodgers, with his right shoulder inflammation among the latest setbacks in the world defending champions’ permanently injured pitcher.
Glasnow did the IL on the IL after leaving his second start the next day due to Sunday's shoulder discomfort. He allowed two home runs in the first inning against Pittsburgh, but returned to the second inning before quitting.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Monday that Glasnow has developed "overall physical aches" in addition to shoulder dilemma.
"There is a mechanism, there is something uncomfortable, it doesn't feel right," Roberts said. "As Tyler said, it's very frustrating, we all just want to get into trouble."
For the second straight season, Glasnow has joined the shocking Dodge pitcher with significant damage issues.
The top line starts players Glasno, Blake Snell (inflamed in the left shoulder) and Clayton Kershaw (recovered from toe and knee surgery) and Blake Treinen (tight right forearm), Michael Kopech (right shoulder), Brusdar Graterol (right shoulder surgery) and several other partners as well as several others.
"Pitching is definitely turbulent," Roberts said. "We went through it last year - I think it's every year. I think the most disturbing thing is leading the Major League Baseball in the Bullpen Instance. I think that's something that starters are building that can lower those innings, so it's my head to make sure we don't red-line these guys."
The 6-foot-8 Glasnow has a long history of injury, but the Dodgers received a five-year, $136.5 million contract from Tampa Bay in December 2023. Glasnow has solidly started his debut with the Dodgers, starting his 9-6 season with a 3.49 era and 0.95 runs - but he hasn't reached 115 years, which is his 3.49 runs in the cycle, and his number has begun in August. Playoffs.
Glasnow changed his delivery and start habits to stay healthy, but he only scored 5 games and 18 innings this season before he was plagued by his latest injury, 1-0 at a 4.50 ERA.
Snell, who reached a $182 million free agent deal from Los Angeles in November last year, started two starts just before it was released this month.
The Dodgers used 17 starting pitchers in the 2024 regular season, and their rotation was changed almost every week due to major injuries. Los Angeles won the World Series, relying on October's late-season acquisitions of Jack Flaherty, Yoshinobu Yamamoto (who missed three months in the regular season) and Walker Buehler (who also missed three months) and multiple bullpen games.
Flaherty and Buehler set out for free agents when they refused to resign. Gavin Stone led Los Angeles with a 25-season lead last season, and he was out for the entire 2025 season after his right shoulder surgery.
The Dodgers' high-priced starter rotation is thinner again in 2025: Los Angeles will have to play the bullpen against the Miami Marlins on Tuesday, while former All-Star right-hander Tony Gonsolin will return to the mound on Wednesday, starting for the first time since recovering from Tommy John Surgery in August 2023.
For Dodgers staff, Gunsorin’s return is part of the good news.
Monday's starter Dustin May also re-spinned after two years of absence and suffered an injury, while Yamamoto and newcomer Roki Sasaki remained healthy this month.
Although the team has not set a schedule yet, two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani is expected to make his Dodgers debut in the first half of the season.
Roberts is not sure how he will fill his rotation when the Dodgers start 10 games in 10 days in Atlanta on Friday. The Dodgers may reach out to rescuer Ben Casparius, a long-time starting pitcher before he arrived at the profession.
The Dodgers recall right-handed rescuer Noah Davis to fill Glasnow's roster.
