California Attorney General Rob Bonta issued a statement to Fox News Digital Digital, addressing a letter to the U.S. Department of Justice warning of the June 9 deadline to amend its policies to allow transgender athletes from girls’ sports.
"We are very concerned about the ongoing threats from the Trump administration to California schools and are committed to defending and upholding California laws and all other laws that ensure students' rights (including trans students) to avoid discrimination and harassment. We are reviewing letters and closely monitoring the Trump administration's actions in this area," the statement said. ”
Trump's position comes in the few days when trans athlete AB Hernandez is ranked first in girls' high jump and triple jump in the state, and second in the long jump. Trump warned California Gov. Gavin Newsom last Tuesday that a trans athlete threatened to cut federal funding if he competed in the women's track and field championship.

The Inter-California Federation (CIF) response was to modify the rules to accommodate female athletes who ended trans athletes in three games Hernandez participated, and if there were no biology male athletes participating in these events, they would qualify and take the podium.
This led to Hernandez having to share the podium with the female athlete, who was behind in Hernandez after Saturday's final.

one Bipartisan investigation The California Public Policy Institute found that most residents in California oppose biomale trans athletes participating in women's sports.
This figure includes more than 70% School parents in the state.
"Most Californians require trans athletes to play teams that match the gender they allocate," the poll said.
“The majority of adults (65%) and possible voters (64%) support, requiring trans athletes to compete for teams that match the gender they were assigned at birth, rather than the gender they identified with. The vast majority of parents in public schools (71%) support such a requirement.”
Meanwhile, Newsom himself said he believed trans athletes participating in women's sports were "very unfair".
