Trump received emotional thanks for releasing Hamas hostages: "You saved my life"

In an emotional and widespread moment, President Donald J. Trump spoke directly with 21-year-old U.S. Israeli soldier Edan Alexander, who was recently released from Hamas captivity in a phone call captured on camera and released by the White House.

"Mr. President," Alexander greeted Trump at the beginning of the call, clearly moved. "You are the only reason I'm here. You saved my life."

The phone conversation took place during Alexander's recovery at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center, after he was hijacked for more than 580 days after his dramatic release from Gaza.

President Trump greeted Aidan with some humor and humility and said, "Aidan, I'm nervous to talk to you because you are a bigger celebrity than me."

Trump also expressed the unity of the United States and the government's commitment to bringing all hostages home.

"You are American, we love you." "We have to take good care of you. Your parents are incredible. I saw your mother. She pushed me a little and put a lot of pressure on me."

"Like a good mother!" In the background, Itan's mother screamed.

The heartfelt exchange was posted online by the official White House account and spread quickly, with praise throughout the political field commending for its humanity and international unity.

Alexander's release was intensified by diplomatic pressure and quiet negotiations in the United States, coordinated in part by senior envoys Steve Witkoff and Adam Boehler.

Trump has previously said he is determined to ensure the freedom of American citizens held abroad and put Alexander's case on the top priority.
