Trump officials demand Supreme Court to deprive legal status from Venezuelans | Trump administration

The Trump administration asked the U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday to intervene and assist its attempt to deprive the temporary protected status (TPS) of 300,000 Venezuelan immigrants of the United States, a move that would pave the way for their deportation.

The Justice Department requires the Supreme Court justice to hold a federal judge's order from March that ceased the ruling of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to end the interim legal status previously granted to some Venezuelans.

"As long as the order is valid, (NOEM) must allow thousands of Venezuelan nationals to remain in the country, although she has reason to be sure that doing so is "violating the national interest."

The federal court of appeals rejected the government's request to suspend the judge's order on April 18.
