Trump officials 'created confrontation' leading to arrest of Newark Mayor | U.S. Immigration

ITU, representing on CNN, said on Sunday that it is the responsibility of the Trump administration's homeland security officials to start the confrontation at the New Jersey immigration prison on Friday, which led to the arrest of the mayor of Newark and threatening to detain three members of Congress.

Democratic Congressmen Bonnie Watson Coleman, Lamonica McIver and Rob Menendez (NJ) visited the controversial Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention center known as Delaney Hall, known as Delaney Hall, to inspect the facility. Newark Mayor Ras Baraka arrived as they waited to enter Delaney Hall - when he left the property, he was arrested outside by ice officials, accusing him of trespassing, causing a commotion at the entrance of the prison.

Apparently pushing and pushing between federal immigration officials and members of Congress, Watson Coleman, McIver and Menendez blamed it on immigration officials.

Members of Congress said in CNN's ITU ITU (Parliament), immigration officials had enough opportunities before someone called and instructed masked agents to arrest Baraka.

"They created this confrontation and caused chaos," McPherson said.

Since the ordeal at Delaney Hall on Friday, homeland security officials have accused members of Congress of holding "strange political stunts" there, while also accusing McIver of committing "Bodyslamming" authorities at the scene.

McVer rejected the allegations.

"Honestly, I don't know how to understand anyone," McPherson said. "There is no video to support me around anyone.

“We’re just doing our job there – supervising there.”

For their part, officials threatened to arrest three MPs linked to Friday's commotion at Delaney Hall. Watson Coleman told CNN on Sunday that the threats stemmed from the Trump administration’s decision to “terrorize people in this country.”

The Delaney Hall facility was recently reopened by ICE as the agency continues to expand its detention network to assist the Trump administration in mass deportation. The facility operator said it has the ability to detain 1,000 people.

Delaney Hall is owned by Geo Group, a sprawling private prison company with ice facilities throughout the United States. In February, the Trump administration signed a 15-year contract with Geo Group to run Delaney Hall.

However, the new contract comes amid a legal challenge in ice detention in New Jersey. The Newark City Government recently filed a lawsuit against GEO Group, claiming that the company does not have a proper license to operate the facility.

The federal court of appeals is related to private immigration detention in the state. In 2021, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy signed a law prohibiting immigration detention in the state. Another private prison company, Corecivic, operates the state's only other immigration prison, sued the New Jersey government.

Corecivic has been supported by the Biden administration in its lawsuit, and a federal judge ruled in favor of the company. The state has challenged the federal judge's ruling, and the federal court of appeals has not heard the case until recently.
