NBC News reported that Donald Trump's national intelligence director Tulsi Gabbard is looking for ways to change the president's intelligence profile to align with his media consumption habits and gain his trust, and possibly in video formats.
Gabbard has apparently consulted current and former intelligence officials for a solution. One possibility is to turn the briefing into style video, four sources told The Outlet in a report released on Saturday. The President's Daily Profile or PDB is currently a daily digital document containing text, graphics and images. To take this new approach, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence could even hire a talk head at Fox News and one of the network’s producers. Gabbard himself is a paid contributor to the Internet.
According to his public schedule, Trump received a PDB, which could affect the president's decision, which is only 14 times since he took office. In his first administration, the PDB was changed to a one-page overview, which included less writing and more pictures, and was introduced verbally. He received 55 briefings during the same period in 2017.
Sources said Gabbard believes Trump's frequency may be due to his distrust of intelligence officials and because his consumption of media is different from that of PDB. Fox News has always been his favorite source of news, at least for the first time in the administration.
"The problem with Trump is that he hasn't read it," one source said. "He's been on the radio."
Another idea for PDB is to include graphics and maps in an animation "similar to video games" according to NBC News' report.
A source told the media that getting Trump to welcome the PDB "is a very difficult battle" because of his distrust of the intelligence community.
Gabbard's office denied the story. "This so-called 'report' is ridiculous, ridiculous and candid. In real fake news, NBC has published another false story that was brought up anonymously," Olivia Coleman, press secretary of the Office of the Director of the National Intelligence Agency, said in a statement to NBC News.
The story is "White House spokesman Davis Ingle told the media, adding: "President Trump has convened a world-class intelligence team that he has been doing real-time updates with all pressing national security issues. Ensuring the safety and security of the American people is President Trump’s priority, and he is a priority. ”
Gabbard also considered shifting the PDB to Trump's focus on topics such as economics and trade, while there was even less war on Ukraine, three sources said.
"You shifted with the government's priorities," a source told NBC News.
PBS News reported that earlier this month, Gabbard changed the people preparing for PDB, giving her more control over it. The NIC said in a report that the Venezuelan government did not send members of the Tren de Aragua gang to the United States, and she also fired two National Intelligence Commission officials.
"The labor force can only conclude that their work depends on producing an analysis consistent with the president's political agenda, not real rather than political," said Jim Himes, a senior Democrat of Connecticut, the Housing Intelligence Commission, in a statement.
A report published by the CIA in 2021 outlines the struggle introduced to Trump during the first administration. "Introduction to Trump posed the most difficult challenge he has ever faced," wrote John L. Helgerson, a retired intelligence officer, who said Trump "does doubt the capabilities of intelligence professionals and believes that regular intelligence support is not required."
At that time, Trump was not easy to obtain PDB. "He touched it," CIA analyst Ted Gistaro said in 2021.
