With just days left until Donald Trump returns to the White House, the president-elect's social media accounts on Friday unveiled what may be the latest Trump-branded merchandise: Trump memes, or what's being billed as "$TRUMP" ” of crypto assets.
If this sounds sketchy to you, you're not alone: Many social media users are wondering if Trump's Truth Social and X accounts were hacked — and they continue to ask even hours after the post was posted question.
After calling on users to buy Trump meme coins and "join my very special Trump community," Trump went on to post on his Truth social account to announce the appointment of a new deputy secretary of education — despite her The name appears to be misspelled.
The assets were minted through the blockchain platform Solana, the Trump Meme website said. The product's website features a message from Trump encouraging potential customers to "celebrate our wins and have fun!" Scroll down further to see the meme itself, with Trump raising his fist with the words "FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT" written all over it and his signature plastered all over it. The product description explains: "On July 13, 2024, President Trump faces death and rises to fight!" while touting the meme as "a piece of history."
"Trump Organization affiliates CIC Digital LLC and Fight Fight Fight LLC jointly own 80% of the Trump cards," the website said. Trump made millions of dollars from licensing deals with CIC Digital LLC. Delaware state records show Fight Fight Fight LLC was registered on Jan. 7.
The Trump Meme website also said it was "not affiliated with politics, any political campaign, any political office or government agency."
The Trump transition team did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment.
Although many social users don't believe the Trump meme push is real, Trump and his family have pushed a number of ridiculous products during the 2024 campaign and have continued to do so as his inauguration approaches. The items include a God Bless America Bible, a version of the holy book personally endorsed by the president-elect.
Last month, the day before Christmas, Trump implored supporters to buy a Les Paul-style six-string guitar from Trump Guitars, weeks after guitar maker Gibson issued a cease-and-desist order on its website.
Other products available include terrifying gold Trump sneakers, assassination attempt cologne and a $100,000 watch. In September, Trump announced that he and his family were starting a cryptocurrency venture called World Liberty Financial.
