Training based on HelpMesee simulations expands in Latin America

HelpMesee announced the expansion of simulation-based training programs to Latin America to combat the global shortage of cataract surgeons.

The nonprofit has established partnerships with two ophthalmic agencies in the region.

These plants are visualized, the ophthalmic hospitals in Guatemala and the ophthalmic clinics in the Caribbean Sea (COFCA).

Through these new partnerships, HelpMesee aims to provide high-fidelity, virtual reality (VR) surgical simulation training to aspiring cataract surgeons in previously underserved areas.

The training program is well-known for its standardized approach, which includes real-time instructor feedback and proven evaluation tools.

The collaboration with Visualiza and COFCA complements the existing partnership with the Mexican Archipelago (IMO) in Querétaro, Mexico, further promoting HelpMesee's mission to expand cataract surgery training.

"These new partnerships not only expand the geographical scope of simulation-based training, but also strengthen our collective commitment to providing effective and equitable surgical education for future cataract surgeons," said Dr. Van Lansinger, Director of Research and Business Development at HelpMesee.

The HelpMesee training program focuses on manual small incision cataract surgery (MSIC), which is both cost-effective and effective in producing successful results.

The MSICS training system provides VR simulations and features haptic feedback, learning management systems, courses and e-learning resources.

To ensure that all communities have access to trained MSIC experts, HelpMesee has established over 40 simulators and 15 training centers around the world.

The organization works with universities, government and innovation centers to address the cataract blind crisis.

“Training based on HelpMesee simulations in Latin America” was originally created and published by GlobalData-owned brand hospital management company.
