The Rockies beat the Marlins again. First three games since May 2024

Miami - Hunter Goodman tripled, doubling, with the Colorado Rockies defeating the Miami Marlins 3-2 on Wednesday to complete the season's first game win.

Rocky Mountains starter Kyle Freeland allowed two future runs in six innings. Freeland (1-8) has spread four hits since defeating the Milwaukee Brewers 4-1 on September 8, 2024 and beat four with his first win.

Colorado started the series with a 9-50 title record, winning the third consecutive championship this season. This is the Rockies’ first three games since defeating the San Diego Padres in May 2024.

According to Elias, it was the worst record for a team to reach its first place in the season since 1900, with at least 30 decisions made before the first game of the series. Coincidentally, the worst mark of this span actually belongs to the Marlins, 6-24 (.200) (.200) (.200) (.200) (April 30-May 2, 2024) before the Rockies.

"It's amazing to sweep," Goodman told reporters after the game. "We've played some of the best teams in baseball over the past two weeks and it feels like we've swung one shot in every game. To be able to finish some games and win three games in a row, it's like we did this week to give us a lot of motivation."

Goodman had three home runs and five RBIs in the series against Miami, 13-7.

Colorado's Jake Bird won the final two games in Game 7, Victor Vodnik ranked eighth and Tyler Kinley shut his second save.

The Rockies quickly faced Marlins starter Cal Quantrill (3-6) on Goodman’s first Reserve Bank of India (RBI) triple.

For the fifth consecutive time, he scored doubles with Tyler Freeman and Jordan Beck 2-0.

Goodman took the lead against rescuer Janson Junk in sixth and made progress on the sacrifice flies of Brenton Doyle.

The Marlins, who lost their fourth straight win, played singles in Heriberto Hernandez and seventh place in Jesus Sanchez.

Quantrill allowed two runs and five hits in five innings. The right-handed walked one and hit two.
