The Philadelphia Eagles When the Eagles visit the White House to celebrate Super Bowl victory

Donald Trump won the Super Bowl title at the White House Monday, but several players, including quarterback Jalen Hurts, decided to skip the celebration.

According to a White House official, who asked not to be named, the pain and other players regarded the arrangement of conflict as a cause of absence.

Despite the quarterback absence, Trump called it "injuring an amazing guy and a great player" and he staged a "one star performance" during the Hawks' championship game.

"The Eagles turned out to be an incredible team, an incredible team," Trump said.

In April, Hawks owner Jeffrey Lurie said that attending the White House was not mandatory for players. Our culture is that these are optional,” Lurie said. “If you want to enjoy this, come on and we’ll have a great time and if you don’t, that’s totally optional. ”

NBC Sports Philadelphia reports other Hawks players who did not attend Monday's ceremony include AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, Jalen Carter, Jortan Davis and Brandon Graham.

The Hawks were announced to the White House after winning the Super Bowl last time in 2018. At the time, Trump attacked players who knelt during the national anthem during the first term as president in protest of racial inequality. At the time, Trump wrote on social media that the Eagles were in dispute with their president because he insisted that they proudly represent the national anthem, mindfulness, in honor of the great men and women of our military and our country. ”

Last week, a reporter asked on the red carpet of the Times party whether he would attend the White House visit, Hurtes responded with an awkward "um" and a long silence before walking away.

The Hawks star ran back to Saquon Barkley visited Trump at Trump National Golf Club in New Jersey over the weekend and rode the Air Force One with the president.

“He likes it,” Trump said of Barkley’s flight on the presidential plane. "He's a great young man and an incredible football player," Trump said. Saquon spent one season in the season running behind the most powerful offensive line in the NFL."

Meanwhile, Barkley criticized Trump on social media earlier Monday for his time with Trump. He noted that he also played golf with Barack Obama.

"Maybe I'm just respecting the office, not a difficult concept to understand," Barkley posted on X.

While Trump's first term has led many athletes, such as LeBron James and Megan Rapinoe to criticize the president, so far, the sports world has had little turnaround so far. In February, Trump became the first current president in the United States to compete in the Super Bowl, and his attendance was welcomed by several players, including Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Traditionally, teams that won big championships were invited to the White House to celebrate their victory with the president. However, during Trump’s first term, several teams were not invited or made it clear that they would not participate. These teams include the NBA's Golden State Warriors and the U.S. Women's National Team after winning the 2019 Women's World Cup.
