A 25-year-old Guatemalan man was detained by U.S. immigration and customs law enforcement officers at a gas station in Framingham, Massachusetts on Monday, according to his family.

The arrest was conducted at Shell gas station at about 6 a.m. Daniel Orellana was at work when she was intercepted by the Ice Patrol. Now, his desperate family demands justice, claiming that he has been wrongly detained.

"It's unfair that he's going through this and being treated like a criminal," said Arquimedes Orellana, the young man's father.

Orellana said Ice intercepted Daniel with a vehicle and asked him, "Are you this guy?"

"My son replied, 'I'm not that person. I don't know him'...'Do you know him?' "No, I don't know him, I don't know who he is, I don't know what you are talking about.

Shell gas station worker Enrique Martinez confirmed to Telemundo Nueva Inglaterra that the arrest was conducted at the gas station and the vehicle was abandoned.

After hours of searching, his family managed to catch Daniel's vehicle, and that night, they learned his whereabouts.

His father said, "We got a call from him and said Bing had him."

Daniel's girlfriend Zulema Alfaro said she has been in touch with Daniel. "He had communicated with me and let me know the situation, and it was a misunderstanding and they told him, 'Okay, but we're going to take you anyway.'"

The Aurelana family escaped violence from Guatemala three years ago. Daniel is about to earn a law degree graduate but has to abandon everything for his own safety, but has no documents.

"I'm not against what the government is doing," Arquimedes Orellana said. "I mean, I know the government is working to improve the country. I mean, he wants to see this country prosper, it's great, but it's unfair that they take away innocent people, and for the fruitful people of the country."

An attorney is assisting the case and they expect the news for the next few hours.

Daniel is being held in an immigration detention center in Plymouth, and his family hopes that the unfortunate chaos can be resolved so that he can return home in the coming days.

Telemundo Nueva Inglaterra has requested information about the arrest from the ICE, but has not received a response.
