Pittsburgh (AP) — Dansby Swanson, Kyle Tucker and Seiya Suzuki all put Pirates ace Paul Skenes deep in the fifth inning, with the Cubs winning 8-3 on Thursday.
Suzuki then added two more shots to Kyle Nicolas as Chicago took two thirds from the last pirate.

Skenes (3-3), who worked hard at the shortest start of the season in his victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers last Friday.
The 22-year-old National League Rookie of the Year lasted only five innings. His four walks matched the total this season, and the enterprising Cubs turned two deficits into a 3-2 lead on the fifth time.
Swanson led fifth with his sixth home run. Tucker added the eighth batsman to two batsmen, and Suzuki put Chicago in front and shot into the left stand. Pittsburgh native Ian Happ has three hits. Swanson, Suzuki and Michael Busch had two hits for the Cubs.
Colin Rea (2-0) allowed two runs in Chicago's highest six innings.

The Diamondbacks won the last two games of the three-game series - the Mets won the first back-to-back game at Citi Field since July 27-28, when they fell into the Atlanta Braves.

Cincinnati (AP) — Jose Trevino hit two home runs, Spencer Steer was delayed by one hour and rained for 37 minutes in a game in Cincinnati.
Trevino led the Reds with a second-2-0 second-to-2-0 in two-inning home runs at Matthew Liberatore.

Brendan Donovan finished first in Nolan Arenado's single when Elly de La Cruz kicked off the ball in the short left field, his seventh major league lead with a score of 2-1.

Lenyn Sosa singled the bottom of the seventh inning and scored the last score on Andrew Benintendi's three straight walks to load the base without getting out. Robert followed by a three-point double, 8-0 in seventh place.
Patrick (0-3) started for the third time in a row. He gave up three hits with four strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Jeffrey Springs gave up two hits in six innings, with Jacob Wilson and Miguel Andujar each hitting two hits, one RBI and track and field beat Texas.
Springs (4-3) allow at least three games in the last five starts, with a total of 19 in that span. Mason Miller ranked perfectly in the ninth and got the 10th inning with a lot of chances this season.

Wilson hit the RBI single in seventh place, and Luis Urías added another in track and field.
Marcus Semien was single once, twice walking and a stolen Ranger base.
Tyler Mahle (3-1) walked five hits and six strikeouts in six innings. The 30-year-old right-hander gave up two runs of 12 innings in his first two games, neither of which made a decision.

Cleveland (AP) - José Ramírez became the first player in Cleveland franchise history to get 250 professional home runs and 250 steals before taking a win in the 10th inning as the Guardians fought for a victory over Minnesota.

Ramírez drove three points in Steven Kwan's singles drive. Ramírez then stole the second base to become the 24th player in Major League Baseball history, with only active players - reaching the milestone.
After Kyle Manzardo deliberately walked, the pinch-hitting Angel Martínez hit a sharp ground on the right side of Justin Topa (1-2) and gave Ramírez and won his second walking victory in Cleveland in four games.
Kolby Allard (1-0) won the victory as The Guardian won three of four games and 10-game Homestand scored 6-4. On ironic weather education day, there were two rainfall delays totaling 2 hours and 23 minutes.
