Tessa Thompson offers Cannes Golden Globes for documentary

Actor and musician Tessa Thompson, known for "Creedy", "Thor: Ragnarok" and "Black: International Men", will present the first ever Golden Globes documentary award at the Cannes Film Festival.

The inaugural award, presented by the Artemis Rising Foundation, was awarded to the documentary director for “their contributions to shaping the genre of documentaries and challenging the way audiences see the world.”

"The Artemis Rising Foundation is honored to inspire outstanding documentaries at the Cannes Film Festival. We believe that in a changing world, social influence storytelling is more important than ever. The award's jury includes Golden Globes President Helen Hoehne; ​​scully; Geralyn White Dreyfous, co-founder of Impact Partners; and Thompson. The jury will select a winning filmmaker from finalists Raoul Peck, Eugene Jarecki, Alex Gibney, Mariska Hargitay and Andrew Dominik, who have premiered documentaries in this year's Cannes Selection.

Thompson will announce the winners at the Cannes Film Market event on May 19, including Palmes’ poems, which include panel discussions, awards ceremony and celebrations.

The awards ceremony and May 19 event were supported by Think-Film Impact production. Founder and CEO Danielle Turkov Wilson will have a panel discussion around the prize presentation, which will also feature La Scam's president Rémi Lainé, Cannes Film Festival's documentary program and White Dreyfous.

The winner will receive a €10,000 cash prize in recognition of their contributions in the documentary field.
