The rapper responded to recent criticism of his collaboration with McDonald's and questioned his fans' loyalty to him in that moment.
Stormzy uninstalled his latest freestyle "Sorry Rach", a fast-paced single that responded to recent criticisms and tried to set the record straight to his character questioning.
"I heard they wanted to hang me to dry, eat nuggets/The world may never love you the way again, but my mom will." In February, the rapper was caught up in controversy over his collaboration with McDonald's. Around the moment the “Storm Meal” was announced, fans noticed that his past Instagram posts no longer listed “obvious injustices in the world” about the ongoing Israeli attacks on Palestine. Since 2023, McDonald's has been a major target for organic companies that people believe to support Israel.
“I didn’t file posts that I came out to support Palestine because I had been archived last year’s (Instagram) posts for any reason outside,” Stormzy said at the time. "In that post, I talked about #freepalestine, oppression and injustice, and my position on it has not changed... The brands I work with can't tell me what to do or I don't know what to do or I won't work with them. I do all my own brands, collect my own information, form my own opinions, and make my own business ending and are doing business."
Elsewhere in "Sorry Rach", Stormzy delves into the Jet setup, his complex relationship with women and his perception of betrayal. He said, "Well, you stab me on my back, you need a better knife." "I'm very bright, you think I've been stuffed / I told the boy, I think I met my wife / baby, if you have my kids, you'll be in your life."
"Sorry Rah" is Stormzy's second song released this week. He also shared "Hold Me Down," a more distinctive record as a passionate freestyle chaser. "Honest mistakes / I need to grow up, but what to spend? / I fuck all, I fell on my face / I'll do another song and I'll call it a day / You're looking for that feeling too / You're staring at the ceiling / Ginging at the ceiling / It's cool, well, I feel too, I'll say too. "Sometimes I want to know what it's all like to be so wrong / I want to know what they'll say when I'm gone / tired, but I'll do another song / All make all these songs, make all these songs, make all these songs." ”
