Eventually, officials determined that Jets goalkeeper Connor Hellebuyck had pushed the puck into his net. The goal at the time gave Dallas a 3-2 lead. Stars won the game 5-2.

Jets coach Scott Arniel asked questions about officials' interpretation of the rules that allow oil companies.

"The rules state that if the puck is kicked, if it hits the body or stick of anyone other than the goalkeeper, it will count as a target. It hits our goalkeeper's stick and goes into the net. It's not a target," Anil said. "So they said Hurley pushed the puck and I haven't seen that word in the rulebook yet."

Star coach Peter Deboer said he was pleased that officials spent some time reviewing the script "correct".

The hockey was originally photographed by Mikko Rantanen. It made Hellebuyck turn right to his right and then stand out from Petrovic's stake and then go back online.

"I saw him kicking a little, but I didn't see a replay of it. ... I think it might be 50-50, but thank God, they called it the target."

Petrovic, who scored in the playoffs for the first time in nine years, called it a "lucky goal."
