Spotify is launching a new hub dedicated to keeping users informed of upcoming albums, the company announced Wednesday. The hub, called the “upcoming release,” will provide personalized suggestions based on the user’s listening history.
Users will be able to access it via the Search tab on the mobile device in the Browse All section. The hub also features the previous 10 global countdowns, the most anticipated upcoming release based on the pre-reserved quantity.
The hub will allow users to pre-release the upcoming version and view the countdown page, which shows the track list and released singles for future albums. These pages also have merchandise and editing from the artist. Once users pre-release the upcoming version, they will receive a push notification from Spotify on the day of release. Additionally, Spotify will automatically add music to their library.
The new hub will enhance music discovery on the platform by suggesting future albums that align with their interests. This also allows listeners to keep their future versions of expectations by allowing them to quickly warm up their expectations. For artists, the new hub could provide more exposure to upcoming releases. The hub can also enhance the discovery of its countdown pages, thereby obtaining commodity and travel information.
Spotify also announced that it will launch a countdown chart on its Spotify and Spotify for Artists social channels on platforms such as Instagram, Tiktok and X. These charts will show the countdown of the top ten in the world on Spotify. The company said the chart will be updated every Wednesday.
The announcement is updating its apps when Spotify has been updating it for the past few weeks. Earlier this month, the Music Streaming Service redesigned its app to give users more control over their listening experience and suggestions. The redesign includes new features that help users manage queues, current listening experience, playlist creation, and more.
Additionally, Spotify has launched the ability for users to buy individual audiobooks directly in the app, as a U.S. judge ordered Apple to stop charging commissions through the iPhone app, Spotify has launched this month the ability to buy individual audiobooks directly in the app, as well as the option to access pricing information and external payment links.
