Jordan Spieth won the PGA title this week, winning his career Grand Slam from Rory McIlroy, his ninth attempt to finish his professional Grand Slam this week.
Spieth, who hasn't won any event since 2022, fought back from left wrist surgery last August, and it felt like he had a chance this week at Quail How, just like McIlroy did when he won last month the Masters became the sixth golfer to win all four major titles.

"It's encouraging to watch Rory win after years of trying," Spis said Tuesday.
"You could say it was a tough win. Most of the time, he made it look much easier. So it was obviously the forefront of his mind.
"There is no such thing that has been done by many people, and there is a reason. But I would love to put the hat on the ring and give it a chance this weekend."
Spieth will complete the Grand Slam with Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Gary Player, Ben Hogan, Gene Sarazen and McIlroy if he wins the PGA.
After the surgery, improving the tee gave him confidence to achieve this.

"Now, I think I'm actually because my drivers are more weaponized than before, which puts me in a position to feel more comfortable on these courses," Spieth said.
"You have to go out and execute, but a familiar golf course is good. I think it's an advantage. Then, it's a huge slope of Bermuda (grass), and I grew up, so this week it's a great opportunity."
The 31-year-old American won the 2015 Masters, the U.S. Open and the 2017 British Open, but has not won any titles since winning his 13th Tour title on the 2022 PGA Legacy.
"I think my trend is very good," Spieth said. "I feel really good about some of the things I'm doing."

Spieth finished three top 10 this year, the best in the fourth in the CJ Cup byron Nelson two weeks ago. He has had four top 20 efforts in wrist surgery in the past five games, and past dislocations are the only memory.
"Just don't have to worry about its dislocation is really nice," Spieth said. "I was able to pick up the kids and throw them away, and my wrists don't get off. You can imagine it's a great feeling.
“I haven’t really thought about it in the past few months when I play golf.”
- "Always circle" -
Spieth said he hasn't considered the Grand Slam more since McIlroy's Masters won, but is often asked.

"For years, I came to PGA and no one really asked me," he said. "But it always hovered around the calendar. For me, if I could only win one game in my life, I would choose that reason."
Spieth said he hasn't been asked more questions in recent years because he just underperformed, so he hasn't been asked more massive questions.
"I've been talking about for a few years, a lot of the time, I'm not in a good shape," Spis said.
SPIETH's best result in the PGA Championship was second in 2015. He also finished third in 2019. Spieth was in the 2017 PGA No. 28 at Quail Hollow in 2017, in his first career Grand Slam attempt.
