Luciano Spalletti recalls how the social media incident with Lautaro Martinez's father caused difficulties during his time at Inter Milan.
Current Italian and former international Napoli and Rome coach reviewed the incident while talking to journalist Giancarlo Dotto FCINTER1908.
Luciano Spalletti has served as Milan coach for two seasons. He was at the club between 2017 and 2019.
Spalletti made many famous signings when he was in charge of Nerazzurri.
But perhaps the most important player that Spalletti brings may become the striker Lautaro Martinez.
Now, Martinez is the captain of Inter Milan. Argentina has worn armbands since the start of the 2023-24 season.
Martinez won the Serie A title twice with Inter. He will also lead Nerazzurri to the Champions League final for the second time in just three seasons.
Martinez has been the highest scorer in the international roster for three consecutive seasons.
But when the Argentinian arrived, it still took him a while to really find his feet in Inter.
That was the time when Spalletti worked with Martinez.
Spalletti reviews his time as an international coach. “A 20-year-old has a bright future at the start of my second season.”
“Lautaro Martinez,” the coach recalled. "Pure power, although still far from his level today."
"When I was coaching Udinese, my captain Nestor Sensini said he was highly rated," Spalletti noted.
“Then, sports director Piero Ausilio did a great job.
Spalletti then commented: "The nickname Il Toro perfectly sums up the quality of Lautaro."
“Every time he receives the ball, he sticks his nostrils out toward the goal.”
"It seems like he saw red flags from the Bullfighter," the former international coach said.
Spalletti then recalled that he had "no problem" with Martinez.
"But I do have with his father. When he crossed the line with A, we can say, Colorful Tweets After the Champions League to me. ”
Martinez's father vented his frustration after Spalletti replaced Keita Balde instead of Martinez.
The coach then explained, “I don’t have much weight on certain things.” “But I explained to Lautaro that his father didn’t realize he was damaging his son’s image and career when he publicly attacked me.”
"Besides having an impact on the locker room," Spalletti noted.
"In Europe, to be a top player, you have to prove that you know how to manage yourself," Spalletti added.
"And the people around you."
"Because the big clubs are unwilling tolerate these embarrassing situations," Spalletti explained.
