Sophie Cunningham didn't initially appear at Athlon Sports after winning the fever.
The Indiana boom finally broke their three-game winning streak after defeating Washington Mystics Tuesday night with a final score of 85-76.
Indiana opened a tense game with a dominant third quarter, with 24 points from Kelsey Mitchell and 14 points from Lexie Hull. Aari McDonald was signed by an emergency hardship exception, which also made her fever and increased the depth of the team in the backcourt. The team's strong defense and hustle and bustle kept the Mystics' balance, leaving them only one tenth of the 10 off the arc.
Despite fever defender Sophie Cunningham still smiled at Gainbrige Fieldhouse in Indianapolis despite an ankle injury and a fractured tooth. Before the game began, Stanford alums spent some time signing autographs and taking photos with fans. In actual games, she and her teammate Caitlin Clark were also out of the game due to a limb injury, causing their team to cheer off the field.
After winning, in a video posted by Fever’s official X account, they caught many players including Aliyah Boston, Hull and Natasha Howard and ran out of the tunnel after the victory, which felt great.
The last player to play was Cunningham. Although she didn't have a match today due to her injury, she was also very happy. The 28-year-old athlete walked out wearing a black tube and a pair of black pants. Her long blonde hair was half-top and half-bottom, and she played the look with a simple golden cross necklace and two pairs of gold hoop earrings.
“That’s a good-looking voiceover,” Cunningham said with a smile. "Wow, happy days!"
"Next." 😤

The 28-year-old athlete suffered a right ankle injury in the preseason against Atlanta Dream on May 10, missing the season opener of the Chicago Sky that happened a week later. She then reinjured the same ankle in the fourth quarter against Connecticut last Friday against Connecticut State, further putting her far ahead.
An hour before the game between the fever and the Mystics, fever head coach Stephanie White was asked at a pre-match press conference if there was any latest news about Cunningham's ankle injury and Clark's limb injuries.
"No. Not yet." White just replied. "Sorry. I hope."
The fever will play against Chicago Sky at the United Center at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday. Cunningham will compete this weekend as her reassessment is scheduled for next Monday.
