“Saturday Night Live“It’s no stranger to joking religiously, but its latest sketch is to make criticism because it implies that Vice President JD Vance may have played a role in the death of Pope Francis.
The episode begins with emotional music numbers and is dedicated to mom before Mother's Day. The song was suddenly interrupted by imitation by President Donald Trump, played by actor James Austin Johnson. The show’s opening remarks have been focused on the president for weeks.
Johnson's Trump said on stage: "It's me again, invading every aspect of your life." He quickly changed his tone by commenting on the recent election of the new pope by the Catholic Church.
"We have an American Pope, Chicago-style, without ketchup," he joked. "But we like Pope Leo. We want him to do what we want. That's what you want the Pope to do."

"Otherwise, I will have to send JD back to do his thing. Remember the last time JD met the Pope?" he said, referring to the fact that Vance met Pope Francis the day before the Pope's death.
In fact, Vance was the last world leader to meet with Pope Francis, who visited him last Easter Sunday. The Pope died the next day.
SNL said Trump has been in office for "100 years" while mocking the pope's ambitions and executive order fanaticism.
Sketch continues to blame Vance for Johnson's Trump, who blames Johnson for a series of international crises, said: "He got the touch of Medas, but for a bad thing. He met the pope? Dead. Go to India? Go to India? War! Join me for the campaign? Trump won!"
Vance mourned X (formerly known as Twitter) after the death of Pope Francis.
The Vatican said Pope Francis died at the age of 88.
"I was so happy to see him yesterday, even though he was obviously sick," Vance wrote to some extent. "But I will always remember him because he gave the following affection in the early days of Covid. It's really beautiful. May God rest in peace with his soul."
Still, the timing of the meeting spurred conspiracy theories and jokes online. John F. Kennedy's grandson even posted to his 100,000 X followers: "Okay, jd killed the pope."

Vance did not respond directly to online speculation, but in an interview with Fox News Digital, he reflected on a profound moment at the conference.
"I'm one of the world leaders who really meet with the Pope, not even the last one," Vance said. "I rode a relatively small employee, who was a devout Catholic, and when he was about to meet the Pope, I looked back at him and he was crying, he was crying - kind of making this man not just this person, but the institution is a person of over a billion people around the world."
After the meeting, Vance flew to India for a diplomatic visit. He landed and learned about the death of Pope Francis.

The SNL sketch is not stopped on the Vance-Pope connection. It continues to mock Catholicism itself, comparing religion to popular American institutions.
"We love Catholics," said Johnson's Trump. "It's a stronger Christian organization, and the Salvation Army, and I'm going to say Chick-fil-a."
Throughout the season, the long-time sketch comedy show repeatedly questioned President Trump’s beliefs and compared Trump to Jesus with its Easter-themed plot.
