US singer-songwriter Ethel Cain responded to the backlash by launching the #KillMoreCEOs hashtag following the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in December.
Kaine's original message was accompanied by a quote complaining about the influence of wealthy corporations and lobbying groups on American politics.
This led to one Fox News host calling for a boycott of her music.

The station cited a poll that showed many college students and Gen Z expressed sympathy for the suspect in Thompson's killing.
