Silvana Estrada releases new single "Like a Bird"

The artist's self-produced track is her first release in 2025

Silvana Estrada wins a dedicated follower, along with her 2022 debut album, winning Latin Grammy for Best New Artist Dry. Since then, she has been busy releasing songs and EPs, and she returns to her first single in 2025: "Como unPájaro", a shocking meditation, feeling of healing after the worst.

The song center Estrada is going to stay up late at night while singing, trying to keep going from someone: "If I cry until dawn until dawn / How much do I love you / You tell me what I should do / What I should do and the whole world is asleep / I am passing you, then I sing." The song is more lush than some stripped arrangements DryStrings arranged by Roberto Verastegui, performed by Skopje Studio Orchestra in Macedonia. The song also saw Estrada self-produced for the first time.

She said that during a certain period of loneliness, “Como unpájaro” came. "I was alone at home trying to overcome my heartbreak, and by night, I suffered from severe insomnia," Estrada said in a statement. "I just started playing the guitar, so I practice to see if sleep will eventually come and give me a rest. Out of silence and loneliness, it felt like I felt like I was the only awake in a sleeping city - the song was born."

“I can still feel the loneliness surrounding me when I listen to it,” she added. “But I am also very grateful for the moment I can really be with myself. I hope that in addition to being a breakup song, it can also be a small dedication to loneliness and silence to indulge in my own experience.”

This song has become popular among fans. Estrada played a few live performances and found that the audience would ask for it in her scene. "People started asking for it shortly after I started the game," she said. "They would yell, 'play' Rus Lux!' because the first verse began," se apagaron ya las luces, ahora dueerme la ciudad. "This connection with the audience became a resonance of the song."

2025 is a busy year for the singer. She performed with Laufey in Mexico City this week, and earlier this month she curated her own stage at Pitchfork Music Festival CDMX.
