Shane Bieber's second recovery begins and Thursday brings hope for guardian rotation

Cleveland - Shane Bieber will begin his second recovery on Thursday, with the possibility of a 2020 American League Championship annual championship rejoining in late June or early July.

Right-handed - who underwent surgery on Tommy John on his right elbow last April - plans to start for the double Akron Rubberducks with a 2 1/3-point-free throw in an Arizona Multis game Saturday. Bieber turned 30 on Saturday, facing nine batsmen, allowing one hit and five batsmen.

Chris Antonetti, president of Cleveland Baseball Operations, is pleased that Bieber averages 93 miles per hour.

"It's really fun to watch Shane just come back in a competitive environment," Anthony said before facing the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday. "He tried to add some complementary tones or change the look of some of his tone profiles. So his changes are especially deeper than in the past."

After spending most of his time in the team’s spring training complex in Goodyear, Arizona, Bieber will likely stay in rebab in northeast Ohio. The Guardian’s top members are located in Columbus, Akron and Eastlake, Ohio, less than two hours’ drive from the Progressive Field.

The plan is to get Bieber to throw 50 balls again on Thursday before intensifying it.

As the two-time All-Stars may pitch every five days, he may return to the rotation between June 25 and 29, when the Guardians hosted host families for the Toronto Blue Jays and St. Louis Cardinals.

"We have a good plan, but one thing we want to make sure, especially with Tommy John, we really are trying to help him get back to the point where he can be without any problem with the balance of the season once he's back."

Bieber’s return (whenever) should provide a lift for the rotation, which struggled for the first two or more months of the season. The Guardian starter entered Sunday’s game, the fourth highest era in the U.S. League (4.25).

Tanner Bibee has a 4-5 and an ERA of 3.86, while Ben Lively will have Tommy John's surgery later this week.

Cleveland (31-26) trailed Detroit in six games Sunday but trailed at the Detroit Center but had one of three universal card attractions.

“I think we think what we are going to do is right, whether it’s starting to pitch, our bullpen, our defense, our offense, all of those areas, all of which are consistent in all areas of the game.”

“I think we’ve seen periods where we can do it, but we feel like we still have the best baseball in front of us, and it’s part of a young team.”
