Seth Meyers responded tactfully to President-elect Donald Trump after he called the late-night host "dumb and talentless" on "The Truth Society." On Wednesday's episode of "Late Night with Seth Meyers," the host didn't mention Trump by name, but he winked and nodded, noting Trump's seemingly reluctant ratings.
"If you're a Pete Hegseth fan, here's the bad news: I'm going to make fun of him," Meyers said at the start of Wednesday night's "Closer View." "But the good news is, he's probably going to be confirmed as the next secretary of defense because it's unlikely that Republicans will go up against Donald Trump on that. You might be saying, 'Seth, why would a Pete Hegseth fan look at you?' program? "Fair point. I've noticed that sometimes people who don't care about me get stuck watching my show. To those people, I just want to say: I feel for you, and I hope you get one soon that you can replace Channel TV.”

Meyers then went on to "look closely" at Hegseth, saying that Comcast, which owns NBC, should be responsible for what he said was the case in light of Meyers' comments on Trump's "Truth Society" post on Tuesday. "Political behavior pays a huge price." hit".
"How bad Seth Meyers is at NBC, a 'network' run by a bunch of truly terrible people - remember, they also run MSDNC," Trump wrote. "The other night , I'm stuck with Marble Mouth Meyers, for the first time in months, every time I see this idiot I feel obligated to say how stupid and incompetent he is, nothing more than an operational A fill-in for Comcast scumbags.”
Trump continued his rant: "These people should pay a lot of money to get the right to make 'in-kind' donations to radical left-wing Democrats. These are not shows or entertainment, they are just political hits, 100% of the time, for me and the Republican Party. Comcast should pay a huge price for this!”
Meyers has often been an outspoken critic of Trump. He is one of several late-night hosts who have been publicly criticized by Trump, including Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon and others.
Trump frequently attacks the mainstream media, often accusing them of bias and distortion in their coverage of him. He recently filed defamation lawsuits against CBS News and 60 Minutes, and settled a defamation suit with Disney after suing ABC News in December 2024 over comments by anchor George Stephanopoulos.
