Firefighters are extinguishing a brush fire that broke out in Sepulveda Pass near I-405 late Wednesday night.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the fire was first reported near the northbound lanes of the Sherman Oaks Expressway just after 11 p.m.
The fire, known as the Sepulveda Fire, is said to have burned about 20 acres of brush and is moving through dense brush. Cal Fire later said 40 acres had burned. The National Weather Service said winds in the area were expected to be 8-15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
An evacuation warning was issued around 11:30 p.m. for people living in the 1500 block of Casciano Road, east of Sepulveda Avenue and north of Moraga Avenue west of Chalon Road.
All warnings were lifted at 2 a.m.

The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert around 12:15 a.m. at the Getty Center Drive exit on both sides of Highway 405 and the Sepulveda Boulevard exit in the southbound lanes.
With no visible flames visible on the hillside just before 1 a.m., several water-dropping helicopters continued to water the area, and an hour later firefighters reported that the advance had stopped.
Via SkyCal, dozens of fire trucks could be seen parked on the road below the fire, while sprinklers worked above. The flames moved slowly up the hill toward the E. Sepulveda Fire Road, where a helicopter could be seen dropping large amounts of water on the largest fire.
The cause of the fire is unclear.
