Sean Gillis says 'pretty big prayer' for Notre Dame ahead of national championship game vs. Ohio State

Notre Dame Fighting Irish football fan Sean Gillis prayed for his team's victory over Ohio State in the national championship on Monday night.

The comedian appeared in an Under Armor commercial asking God to help his team win its first national championship since 1988.

The Fighting Irish were in the national championship game for the first time since 2012, but NCAA penalties for using ineligible players forced the team to forfeit the season.

"Hey, God. It's me, Sean. I know I haven't been here in a while, but I'm praying for you," he says in the ad. "Notre Dame is playing in the national championship game on Monday. I know you know that because you've been with us all this time -- that field goal a few weeks ago. I know you have a lot on your plate, so you're calm and taking the time to help us out. This question.

"I should also say, I haven't bet on any of the games...well, I have, I've bet. But going forward, if Notre Dame wins, you're not going to bet on the game...for a month. A few weeks. I'll probably bet on Sunday.

"Come on, God. I know you can help us. Truckers. Pick six here and there. Maybe a few Fumblerooskis! Please let Notre Dame win a national championship."

Gillis played in Notre Dame's victory over Indiana in the first round of the College Football Playoff.

He mocked former Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban, who was visibly angry about Gillis' attacks on SEC schools paying their players.
