Scottie Scheffler wins third-largest title in PGA title

Charlotte, N.C. - Scottie Scheffler, a year and a day after booking the enduring image of Mugshot being a PGA champion, is hosting the Wanamaker Trophy so everyone can see the world’s No. 1 golfer capturing his third career major on the Quail Hollow Bollow Club on Sunday.

Scheffler posted 71 even wins in the final round of the 107th PGA Championship, beating Harris English, Bryson DeChambeau and Davis Riley. At the beginning of the day, what seemed inevitable began to slip away, and for a short while, Scheftler turned around and tied for the stuffy, wet afternoon in North Carolina with Jon Rahm of Spain.

But then, Scheffler did it many times as before, stomping on the last nine games, while Rahm collapsed on Green Mile - Quail Hollow's treacherous three-hole closing.

In just 366 days, Schaffler's story ranges from wearing handcuffs in the back of the team car to adding the Wanamaker trophy to an already outstanding career, including two Masters green jackets.

Scheffler joined Seve Ballesteros as the only golfer for the past 100 years, winning each of his top three Grand Slams. He took over the 2002 Masters at Rory McIlroy and the 2024 Masters.

This is the 15th PGA Tour victory for 28-year-old Scheffler. Only two other golfers have won 15 championships on the tour since World War II and have won three majors before the age of 29 - Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods.

After wasting a three-stroke lead, Schaffler was in 10th with a 9-foot birdie putt. He finished in the top two with a 14th 7-foot, then led by three when Rahm finished the first leg of the 16th round.

Another bird on the 15th brought Scheffler a four-pole mat to enter the "Green Mile". It will grow to five before he reaches the 16th green.

Rahm tied for under 9 after the 12th hole. He had a good opinion of the birds of 13 and 14, but missed both. After getting par on the 15th, Ram hit his tee on the 16th stroke of the 4th, resulting in a bogey.

In the 3rd 17-point match, his T-shirt shot popped out of the green and into the water, and he shot the Double Boat 5. In the last hole, he hit the stream on the left, resulting in another double bogey. He was five years old in the last three holes and tied for eighth in fourth place.

Scheffler started the day with a three-stroke lead, but when he turned 37, he lags behind Rahm, who made birdies on No. 8 and 10 to take charge.

Rahm tied for the lead with another birdie in the fourth round 4 in the fifth round when Scheffler was behind. Rahm was crazy on the tee and found only two of the first 10 fairways, but he only needed 13 putts in the first 11 holes. He tore a brilliantly ripped when he missed the green and avoided bogey.

It's a very different feeling than the PGA title held at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky last year.

On May 17, 2024, Schaffler in Louisville Metro Police said the golfer disobeyed his orders and tried to bypass the crash during the middle crash, who found himself sitting behind a squad. Traffic outside the golf course was stopped after a man was hit by a shuttle bus at about 5 a.m. ET.

The arrest report says DET. Bryan Gillis suffered pain, swelling and scratches on his left wrist after being dragged to the ground and suffered "scheffler's car "speeded forward".

Scheffler faces charges of second-degree assault against police, third-degree criminal prank, reckless driving, ignoring traffic signals that lead to traffic on officers. The assault charge is a felony. Others are misdemeanors.

Twelve days after Schefler's arrest, Jefferson County Attorney Mike O'Connell dropped the charges against Schefler. O'Connell said Scheffler's characterization is that the incident is evidence of a "major misunderstanding."

Entering last year’s PGA Championship, Schefler won four of the last five games, including his second Masters victory in April. Bond was released less than an hour and a half before the second round after being booked in a detention center in the city.

To some extent, Schaffler released five shots under 66 that day. He slid to 73 and 2 in the third round, which brought him out of the hunt. He rebounded on Sunday with a 65-shot finish and tied for eighth place in the Under-13, down eighth champion Xander Schauffele.
