Tazwood held the 33rd River Cup Men's Golf Championship at the Lick Creek Golf Course in Pekin from May 31 to June 1.
Tazwood won the men's game for the second time in a row 10.5-7.5, and Tazwood's seniors needed two playoff holes to beat Peoria as the team tied 9-9. This is the first time the Tazwood team has swept two games since 2011.
The River Cup began in 1993 and is an annual event to promote golf in the Peoria region. It attracts the best amateur golfers from Peoria, Tazwell and Woodford counties, divided into two teams representing both sides of the Illinois River.
Last year, Tazwood won the men's event and Peoria's seniors, the second time in three years separated from 2022. In 2023, Peoria swept the men’s and seniors’ games for the second time in three years.
The men's captains this year are Ryan Julius (Peoria) and Ryan Saurs (Tatzwood). The senior captains are Tim Walters (Peoria) and Eric Dicks (Tatzwood).
